POSITION SUMMARY

As part of MSU Extension (MSUE) and the Agriculture and Agribusiness Institute (AABI), this position provides local as well as statewide leadership and educational programming expertise in the adoption of cropping systems to improve soil organic matter, soil microbiome, carbon sequestration and tillage practices to reduce nutrient and sediment loss. This position will have regional and statewide responsibilities and will collaborate across work teams, Institutes, and industry  groups, working with faculty, specialists, and educators for overall advancement of the needs of the Institute clientele.

 

In this position, you will identify, design, implement, and evaluate research-based educational programs that meet current and projected outreach needs related to the cost-effective adoption of cropping system practices that include advance fertility management, changes in tillage practices, cover crops, conservation farming and other technological innovations that will improve soil health and ecosystem services.  Through your leadership, you will work collaboratively with work team members, MSU service units, allied industry and farmers, to design, implement, deliver, and evaluate educational programming to meet high priority needs of clientele. This will include, but not be limited to organizing educational events and field days, working on agricultural decision support tools, and writing and coordination of educational publications, bulletins, and videos in collaboration with MSU Extension field staff and industry partners.
