POSITION SUMMARY

The individual in this part-time position provides a variety of technical duties related to the care, maintenance, and cleaning of the library building.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)

• Assures that the library has a clean appearance, and all bathrooms are clean and fully stocked by 9:00 a.m. each day - Cleans toilets, sinks, and mirrors in all four restrooms; Checks toilet paper, paper towels, and hand soap dispensers, refilling when needed in all four restrooms; Mops all four restroom floors with disinfectant cleaner.
• Daily empties all trash baskets on all three floors (replacing liners as needed); Cleans the water fountain; Washes all inside and outside glass in both lobby areas and, as needed, all glass in the emergency exit door; Sweeps all tile floor surfaces in lobbies, the main library area, as well as the area in the back room.
• Twice a week vacuums all carpets on main floor, mops tile floors as needed; Dusts and cleans large windows in main library area; Cleans and dusts computer tables and wet wipes all tables in patron area on main floor; Cleans computer screens on patron computers and childrens computers; Cleans sink and microwave in staff area; Cleans upstairs by sweeping meeting room, kitchenette, computer lab, and elevator area, washing down meeting room tables and counter in kitchenette, and dusting tables in computer lab (depending upon the events planned for upstairs, cleaning may be necessary more often than twice a week).
• Monthly-- dusts shelves; Vacuums upholstered furniture and turns cushions; Sweeps both stairwells; Cleans basement area sweeping and dusting as needed including Literacy Office.
• Twice annually buffs and polishes floors (first and second floors)

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience: One year of prior experience in professional cleaning preferred.
