Brightline owns and operates an express passenger rail system connecting major population centers in Florida, with plans to expand operations further in Florida, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and elsewhere in North America. We are the first new major private passenger intercity railroad in the United States in over a century, and we believe our business represents a scalable model for twenty-first century passenger travel in North America. Brightline currently operates between Miami and West Palm Beach, one of the most heavily traveled and congested regions in the U.S. We are about halfway finished with construction of our Florida passenger rail system's expansion to Orlando, and we intend to further expand our rail service to Tampa, Florida with an intermediary stop at Walt Disney World Resort. We can operate up to 32 trains daily that are capable of speeds of up to 125 miles per hour, and we own stations located in the heart of downtown cities and major transit hubs in Florida. Our passenger rail system offers a travel option that is faster, safer, more eco-friendly, more reliable, less expensive, more productive, and more enjoyable than travel by car or air. We’re looking for a Safety + Security Data Specialist who is as passionate about transportation as we are. While working closely with the Transportation and Operations teams, you will play a critical role in ensuring Brightline’s mandatory reports to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) are submitted with a high degree of accuracy and in a timely manner. You will thrive in the world of collecting information and data, organizing it, and putting it together to form a complete and nuanced picture of any incident that meets FRA reportable standards. Essential Functions: * Ability to gain working knowledge and understanding of CFR Title 49 Part 225 * Experience collecting, organizing, and analyzing data * Ability to gain proficiency with the virtual FRA reporting procedures * Ability to gain knowledge of Federal, State, and local rules and regulations regarding railroad safety * Ability and desire to conceptualize new ways to collect and analyze safety data in an effort to proactively reduce risk * Demonstrate ability to effectively interact and coordinate with employees of all levels * Demonstrate ability to interact with our guests, vendors, or contractors * Ability to prioritize workflow in order to meet deadlines * Effectively teach and engage with teammates from all departments about safety-related topics * Conduct oral presentations when needed, and relay technical information in understandable terms for any given audience * Knowledge of current safety trends in the surface transportation/transit industry * Eager to learn about emerging safety trends in the railroad and transit industry * Maintain confidentiality and discretion, and safeguard sensitive material * Participate in and provide input in scheduled team meetings We are a new business model; agile and evolving – the job description is not meant to be a complete list of your qualifications or all the things you will do. Qualifications * Preferred Associate degree in Safety Management, Safety Science, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred; railroad experience can be substituted for academic degree * Preferred two+ years of data collection and analytics experience * Previous railroad and/or transportation experience is a plus! * Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint * Extreme organization and attention to detail * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the business * Demonstrate ability to work as a teammate in a diverse workforce with professional and ethical conduct * Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality _ NOTE: JOB DESCRIPTION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON BUSINESS NECESSITY.
