The department of Medicine with the Peggy and Harold Katz Family Drug Discovery Center has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Research Associate 1 to work on the UHealth campus. While prior research experience is not required, a genuine passion for nephrology and a willingness to learn and contribute to scientific research are essential. This part-time and limited position up to 1 year.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Literature review: Conducting comprehensive literature reviews to gather information on the current state of knowledge in nephrology. This includes studying scientific articles, research papers, and relevant publications to identify research gaps and opportunities.

  • Data collection and analysis: Assisting in the collection and analysis of data related to kidney diseases. This may involve conducting experiments, collecting patient data, or analyzing existing datasets. You will learn to use statistical tools and techniques to interpret and present research findings.

  • Lab support: Assisting in laboratory operations, including preparing solutions, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. You will work closely with experienced researchers to learn laboratory techniques and procedures specific to nephrology research.

  • Research project assistance: Collaborating with senior researchers in designing and implementing research projects. This may involve developing research protocols, recruiting participants, and assisting in data collection.

  • Documentation and reporting: Assisting in the preparation of research reports, presentations, and manuscripts for publication. You will learn to effectively communicate research findings and contribute to scientific knowledge in the field of nephrology.

  • Learning and professional development: Actively participating in training sessions, workshops, and seminars to enhance your knowledge of nephrology research methodologies and advancements. This will help you develop the necessary skills to grow as a research professional.

CORE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Strong interest in nephrology and kidney diseases.

  • Good understanding of research methodologies and basic statistical analysis.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a meticulous manner.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and data analysis software.
