NBC Universal Project Engineer (Broadcasting & Production Systems) in Miami, Florida

NBC Universal is looking for a talented individual to become a Project Engineer in the Production Engineering group for NBCU Operations and Technology (O&T) based in the Telemundo Center facility located in Miami, FL.  O&T supports Enterprise Technology, Broadcast and Production systems across NBCU globally.

The Project Engineer is responsible for executing production engineering projects, implementing changes, enhancements, and supporting technology refresh and expansion projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivering on all project commitments and working closely with other internal engineering and production teams to ensure successful project launches.

  • Lead creation of project documentation including requirements, conceptual drawings, estimates, design drawings, and documentation.

  • Work closely with on-site and remote technology vendors to develop and implement solutions to support live production control rooms, studios, graphics systems, replay systems, etc.

  • Collaborate with other members of the engineering and technical teams in executing projects, including working with internal stakeholders to create and update configuration documentation.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields, or equivalent work experience.

  • 3+ years of recent experience supporting live production, post-production, or master control environments.

  • Must be willing to work evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays with little or/no notice depending on production schedules.

  • Must be willing to travel on an as-needed basis.

  • Fluency in English (with fluency in Spanish desired).

Desired Characteristics:

  • Expertise with a broad range of technologies, especially systems and technologies used for live production.

  • Dedication to building and maintaining a stable, high-performance technical environment.

  • Strong understanding of IP & SDI based infrastructures and software-based systems.

  • Expertise in enterprise systems, including broadcast and production hardware-based systems, virtualized systems, post-production, playout, and graphics production (live and non-live).

  • Ability to assist project initiatives to include, capital planning, reporting on engineering progress and execution of primary project initiatives.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple, urgent priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong customer service skills and professionalism.

  • Close collaboration with both clients at the local facilities and peers across the Operations and Technology groups.

  • Ability to provide clear, decisive feedback while being prepared to pivot or change course when appropriate.

  • A high tolerance for stress, work well with others, and provide a supportive attitude for all colleagues.

  • Ability to interface effectively with multiple levels of management, ranging from senior executives to business unit managers and third parties.

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
