The Department of Psychology is seeking to fill a Post-Doctoral Associate position for Dr. Sannisha Dale's SHINE (Strengthening Health through INnovation and Engagement) Research Program (https://www.shine.psy.miami.edu/) . The post-doc will be responsible for overseeing day to day research activities and supervising staff for studies related to the SHINE Research Program, which is centered around HIV prevention and treatment in marginalized communities, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, adherence to treatment for chronic illnesses, and structural factors (e.g., racism).

The post-doc will help to train and supervise other staff (e.g., research associates, coordinators, graduate students, and undergraduate students). For instance, the postdoc will supervise staff and graduate students who will serve as assessors administering mental health clinical interviews and conducting study visits. The post-doc will also administer psycho-social assessments to participants as needed and aid in recruitment and retention efforts that requires collaborating with local community partners and agencies. In addition, the postdoc will also be in ongoing communication with the PI regarding project needs and tasks as well as provide weekly updates on the progress of projects. This position requires excellent organizational skills. Having the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously is key.

The applicant should demonstrate both experience with and interest in psychology and/or mental health research preferably focused on the health of racially/ethnically minoritized communities, LGBTQ+ health, behavioral medicine, HIV, chronic illnesses, trauma, mental health and/or community health. The applicant will be required to affirm and empower diverse individuals in terms of race/ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, mental health, substance use, etc. The applicant should demonstrate experience with and a commitment to serving Black communities, other racial/ethnic communities, and the LGBTQ+ community. Individuals with clinical degrees (e.g., doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology) are highly encouraged to apply and, if desired, may have an opportunity to accrue clinical hours for licensure during the study. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting psychological and/or mental health research, mental health assessments and providing psychological support and risk management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, in addition to a motivation for collaborative and independent research and the openness, desire, and curiosity to learn new skills and pursue new research opportunities. Those with experience using advanced research writing and statistical skills will receive preference.
