Worldwide Flight Services 2021 PAID Summer Intern: Lean and Continuous Improvement Intern in Miami, Florida

Job Description Objective of the Role: The project will focus on baseline and validate process inputs and outputs: cycle time studies/process mapping analysis in air cargo stations, receiving office. Kaizen preparation and driving improvement (proof of concept) projects. This position will be a Salary Grade based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position. No telecommuting will be available for this role. Key Learning Outcomes: Learn and understand lean concepts and methodologies: Kaizen, Value Stream Analysis, Process Mapping & 5S Operational Improvement, Throughput Capacity and Efficiency Improvements Process Optimization: Identify waste/potential opportunities for improvement. Assist in training employees on lean methods and principles. Design, test and deploy proof of concepts for process improvement. Required Skills Required Skills: Must be a college Junior, Senior or Graduate student by Fall 2021 * Basic/fundamental mechanical/industrial/quality engineering. Classes in design, quality control systems and lean & continuous improvement are highly desirable. * Experience working within a team environment * Experience developing and delivering presentations (verbal and/or written) to key stakeholders * Experience with MS Office tool suite Desired Skills: * Additional CAD/Solid Works and analysis software experience. * Be a hands on person with ability to work with in an operation/production environment * Ability to demonstrate delivery quality and timely results * Self-motivated, proactive and able to multi-task * Demonstrated leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects Required Experience Minimum Qualifications: Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from a four-year university and entering as a college Junior or Senior by Fall 2021. Recently graduated BS / BA may also be considered. Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying) Degree program aligned with critical talent areas (i.e. Mechanical Engineer, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering ONLY). Length of program: 2-4 months depending on project progression and time availability. Preferred skills: Use of Solid Works/CAD for necessary improvements suggested (If required) and solid/advance use of Excel. Ability to get TSA approval clearance Ability to travel within the USA for short periods of time is a plus.
