Your New Role

We are looking for a Sr. Accountant for the Studio Controllership Digital Distribution accounting team. This Sr. Accountant reports to the Director and will assist with analyzing monthly royalty statement and POS accrual data, the financial month-end close processes, and SOX compliance activities.

Your Role Accountabilities

Monthly/Quarterly Financial Close

  • Partner with offshore resources on revenue recognition activities including processing royalty statements from Digital Distribution licensees and preparing monthly revenue (POS) accruals and extrapolations

  • Analyze royalty statement data in accordance with contract terms including rights validations, pricing and promotion analysis, and title performance

  • Identify, investigate, and resolve irregular items and prepare adjusting journal entries as required

  • Perform financial statement reviews including variance analysis and research

  • Assist in reconciling royalty cash receipts to licensee account balances and providing cash application instructions

SOX Compliance

  • Reconcile revenues totals between licensee royalty statements, royalty statement processing application, and the general ledger

  • Perform royalty statement price compliance testing for licensee royalty statements ensuring per unit pricing is in accordance with contractual terms or promotions

  • Research royalty price variances and effectively communicate variances to Sales team to help resolve

  • Compile and certify monthly SOX files for Digital Distribution team to ensure all deliverables are properly documented, reviewed, and signed off

• Complete ad-hoc projects and analysis, including process improvement initiatives, as determined by internal management.

• Make recommendations to improve process efficiencies and develop/administer procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications & Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in accounting or related financial area.

  • Utilizes advanced analytical skills and draws keen insights from the data.

  • Strong data analytics, contract interpretation, and written communication skills

  • Successfully manages multiple deadline-driven projects.

  • Uses thorough logic and methods as well as business knowledge to solve problems.

  • Raises conflicts and concerns to supervisor; makes suggestions to management regarding how to resolve.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with managers, other levels of personnel and outside clients.

  • Embrace and thrive during change.

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

  • Advanced English skills

Desirable

  • CPA

  • Media and Entertainment industry

  • Knowledge of SAP (including Business Warehouse)
