The Mexico Card Services Finance Director is a critical role for the Card business, the biggest and most relevant LOB for the Market. The incumbent is responsible for leading the Mexican Card Services Finance Team, and will report to the Vice President and CFO for the LACC region.
The successful candidate will have a strong business acumen, financial and analytical background with proficient technical capabilities and strong leadership and communication skills. This role interacts with a broad range of internal customers and plays an active role driving the business strategy. The candidate will work closely with the Country Manager to steer the business and meet its financial targets, while optimizing investments through a comprehensive decision-making process.
Key responsibilities:
Provide financial decision support to the Card Business in Mexico
Coordinate the month-end process and financial results. Track results vs Plan, provide insights and analyze risks and opportunities.
Prepare Business Units Reviews for Senior Leaders - such as the Country Executive Team
Drive the budgeting and forecasting process, with particular focus on Drivers, Revenues and PTI growth
Effectively interact with Headquarters Finance and other key partners
Develop and deliver profitability analysis, including spend margin, net credit margin, card fee margin and profitability contribution by product and card logo
Perform Cost and Benefits Analysis (CBAs) for key projects, initiatives, and product launches as well as other ad-hoc financial analysis
Project Management for the “One Finance Mexico Team” fostering an Enterprise view
Develop and coach a high-performing team of talented and diverse managers
Drive towards digital and increase insights through analytics
Technical Capabilities:
University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Actuarial Science, or Data Science
Fluent English and Spanish
Advanced Excel skills. Use of macros and computer skills in programming, such as SAS, SQL, Tableau, and other big data analytics and capabilities is preferred
Excellent analytical skills and financial acumen (10 years experience in business insights/analytics roles)
Excellent strategic thought leadership and comfort working with unstructured problems
Strong financial knowledge including financial evaluation criteria (NPV, ROI, ROE, etc.)
Excellent knowledge of Financial Modeling
Strong knowledge of American Express business and the competitive environment is preferred
Strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity
Ability to establish controls on data quality
Strong execution skills in a complex operational environment (anticipate problems & emphasize speed/prioritization)
Exceptional thought leadership, strategic thinking skills, results driven, and excellent project management skills
Strategic and analytical focus
Experience in managing new product launches financials and initiatives pipeline CBAs
