Job Description Summary
Own the project control activity globally and drive consistent functional specifications and common global processes for projects implementation. Activities that are conducted to better understand or ultimately meet the expectations of the customer Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
Tender Engineer of Automation, Protection and Control of HV substations including: RFQ analysis, issuing of technical / commercial offers, strong support on Turn Key projects and EPC/EndCustomer auctions, cost reductions analysis based on best technical application and support on supplier’s negotiation, sales support, handover to operations.
Development of solutions and architecture of automation systems for electrical substations in several businesses, such as, industries, services in existing substations and industries, Hydro/Wind/Solar/Thermo Power Plants.
Sales support, contract analysis, public/private bids, technical specifications, etc.
Knowledge in substation automation products as well as communication protocols (IEC61850 standard, IEC-104/DNP, etc.).
Knowledge of the technical standards of the main Energy Companies in Mexico, such as CFE.
Align strategic support to Product Line and negotiation with third parties
Survey and recognize Market needs in terms of technical solution
Responsible for leading Technical offers in LAM and costing
Responsible for elaborating and managing technical proposals and participate with ITO team during technical discussion with customer in negotiation phase
Responsible for supporting Bid Managers/Sales in presales requirements
Responsible for applying the spirit and letter on the commercial process to assure process compliance and content
Drive the review of the risk elements presented by the technical offers and provide mitigation with the other support areas on deal strategy, schedule, risks, equipment availability, Advance Order / Release, costing, performance and other identified risks
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or Control & Instrumentation Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum 7 years of experience in power system protection and control
Eligibility Requirements:
- Ability and willingness to travel when necessary (customer meetings, substations visits, site survey, etc.)
Desired Characteristics/Experience
Strong technical and commercial background in Protection and Control
Able to communicate effectively at all business levels and with support areas
Deep knowledge of Transmission, Distribution and Generation products, processes, and organizational structure is preferred
Technical, Pricing and commercial experience within power system protection and control
Substation automation, Protection & Control application expertise
Digital Substation basic understanding and willingness to drive specs changes in the technical department of Energy Utilities
Conveys deep understanding of industrial and utility relaying protection schemes
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
Ability to maintain professional demeanor and interact with all levels
Work efficiently without direct supervision
Desire to work outside of boundaries and drive change
Strong creative and problem-solving skills
Flexible and adaptable; open to change and modification of tasks
Able to share ideas and work well in a team environment
Proactive approach to tasks - displays initiative
Strong organizational skills and an open approach to conflict resolution
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Spanish language fluency (mother tongue)
English - oral and written – very good skills
Knowledge of Multilin, Micom, Reason Product Lines – desired
Knowledge of market and technical specs of utilities in Central America/Caribbean.
