The Role: Analyst

The Location: Mexico City

The Team: The global equity index product management team oversees a wide set of index products including our global benchmarks and real estate indices as well as newly evolving indices in the sustainability space. We serve as asset class experts and set the strategic priorities within our product set to drive revenue growth for the business.

The Impact: As our geographical reach expands through the global adoption of our international indices, the depth of our family of indices grows, and the interest of investors diversifies, the support role of this position to the product management team is critical to help meet all the internal and external clients’ demands.

Responsibilities:

The role is one of an Investment Analyst based in Mexico to support the product management team overseeing primarily global equity indices. The individual would be responsible for compiling a wide variety of quantitative analysis to support client inquiries and commercial initiatives and to create and update marketing and sales collateral (presentations, reports, etc.). Progress in the role will be exemplified by providing continual value to global equity team members, colleagues, and clients by delivering these requests with efficiency and accuracy and demonstrating an understanding of how to best address commercial opportunities. Some examples of specific responsibilities include:

  1. Conduct returns and holdings based analysis of equity indices to support client inquiries and other strategic initiatives. The analysis would require use of tools like Factset or Capital IQ Pro with which familiarity is not required but useful.

  2. Create and update presentations and other collateral to support sales and marketing initiatives.

  3. Conduct market research and other competitive analysis to support new product initiatives and ongoing strategic sales and marketing efforts.

  4. Build familiarity with internal and external systems and tools to gather the necessary data to do the analytical work.

  5. Plan, coordinate and implement the required tasks needed to ensure the smooth and timely launch of new indices. Deep involvement in product design working closely with the product manager and the Research & Design team.

  6. Visit clients, (in person or virtual) when needed, to present new concepts or existing family of indices.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in finance or a related field is required.

  • Understanding of the investment process, investment management industry, portfolio theory, and financial markets is required.

  • Knowledge of indexing, passive investing and understanding of S&P DJI global equity indices is desired.

  • Programming skills (Python, VBA, others) are preferred.

  • Knowledge of analytical platforms such as FactSet, Capital IQ, and Morningstar is preferred.

  • Experience with product development and/or research is preferred.

Critical experiences:

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint required.

  • Excellent problem solving and time management skills.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills as well as keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English – both written and verbal are a must.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as part of a team.

  • Able to learn quickly, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
