The centers provide campus-based directservices and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) III serves asUnit Charge and is appointed by and responsible to the DSP Supervisor,subject to the approval of the Unit Director. The Charge is responsibleto ensure that care, treatment, training, and support activities arecompleted in the assigned home, including supervising and monitoring theactivities of other direct support staff. The charge may delegateportions of these responsibilities and sufficient authority forfulfillment but may not relinquish overall responsibility for results.In the absence of the Charge, the Assistant/Acting Charge will assumethe job responsibilities. The Charge may be asked to assume the dutiesof the Direct Support Professional Supervisor in his/her absence. Worksunder limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use ofinitiative and independent judgment. This position may be required todrive a state-owned vehicle.Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on aregular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or,at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime inaccordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties asassigned. Ensures active and efficient care, training, and support forindividuals s in home living environmentEnsures the practice ofappropriate Gentle Teaching techniques in all training and careactivities in living and training environments.
