Job Description

As an Web Solutions Architect in AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS), you’ll have opportunities to contribute to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, helping to create solutions that impact patients and their communities for the better.

Act as the Architect for a large enterprise scale Web Platform & related technologies and their subsystems utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs. Conceive, design, engineer, and implement data and software solutions that help unlock technical capabilities & solve problems for AbbVie’s brand marketing teams, focused on Web technology stack but also extending expertise to other digital channels (mobile apps, interactive sales aids etc.) on project need basis. .

Investigate, identify, and implement state-of-the-art technology platforms that drive productivity and efficiency gains in digital marketing domain. Act as a lead in his/her area of expertise and critically evaluate relevant technological advances and integrate this knowledge into new business technology solutions. Operate as the subject matter expert and be the point person for all technical aspects involving web platform integrations & related technological decisions.

In this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Conceive, design, engineer, and implement software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; Demonstrate the ability to resolve key project hurdles and assumptions by effectively utilizing available information and technical expertise.

  • Provide comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff at the highest technical level on all phases of application programming and processes for diverse development platforms, computing environments (e.g. host based, distributed systems, client server, software, hardware, technologies and tools, etc.).

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the pharmaceutical business, and utilize this knowledge in the rapid advancement of agile, impactful, and cost-effective solutions

  • Highly autonomous and productive in performing activities, requiring only minimal direction from or interaction with supervisor.

  • Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost effective application programming solution. May code new or modified programs, reuse existing code through the use of program development software alternatives and/or integrates purchased solutions.

  • Matures and leverages relationships with affiliates, subsidiaries, vendors, and industry peers in accordance with Abbvie Values, Vendor Management Office, and Purchasing to further the mission, vision and goals of the organization.

  • May mentor/supervise a team of one or more and guide and evaluate the performance of those individuals; is accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals.

  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle.

  • Working with all required product owners, solution architects & platform architects (web hosting platforms, ESB’s, Data Lake, CRM Systems, 3rd party vendor managed systems etc.) and provide the End-to-End Integration Architecture for the business problem.

Qualifications

What makes you a strong candidate for this role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 7 years of experience, Master’s Degree 6 years of experience, PhD 2 years of experience in application program development. Work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.

  • Deep expertise with the overall web stack including backend (application servers, web servers, high-level cloud architecture, AWS services, clustered deployment & high availability applications), front-end (browsers, interaction of technologies like JS, CSS & HTML), networking & security (CDN’s, WAF, role of firewalls, Load balancers & common attack patterns like DDoS, SQL injection etc.)

  • Proven knowledge & hands-on development & architect level experience with any major Content Management solutions like Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or Sitecore.

  • Deep Expertise in application integration patterns & modern techniques like RESTful APIs & microservice architectures and hands on expertise with any of the modern server side and client-side programming languages like JAVA, Python, Javascript, Node etc.

  • Expertise with Cloud Solution architecture & familiarity of a major cloud service provider – preferably AWS as well as exposure to implementing application security, identifying common threat vectors, mitigation techniques, and relevant security standards like OWASP.

  • Hands-on experience in using diagramming tools for architecture & solution documentation like Lucidcharts, Visio or Confluence
