UX Designer

(Remote position reporting to the US Mettawa, IL Headquarters)

Brunswick, the world’s largest recreational marine business is seeking a seasoned Senior UX Designer for our internal growing UX Design team based out of our headquarters in Mettawa, IL. This role reports to the Enterprise Director of User Experience Research and Design.

UX Designers at Brunswick are responsible for the design of consumer-centric interactive digital products to support on- and off-boat user experiences. UX Designers approach all projects with curiosity and empathy; applying their deep understanding of user needs to the design of new experiences (represented via information architecture, user flows, wireframes, prototypes and visual design comps) and collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX Researchers and Developers within an agile product design and development team to bring these concepts to life in the final product.

Responsibilities

Working as part of a fast moving, energetic, forward-thinking team. This role is to support over 20+ brands and over 80+ websites globally. The roles core responsibilities are outlined below:

  • Reporting to the Senior UX Designer you will be responsible for delivering quality digital assets for existing web pages as well as designing new pages to optimize experiences across all Navico brands. You will work on a variety of tasks – From image resizing and minor site updates within BAU to collaborating with the team on larger projects such as product launches, site re-platform initiatives or the creation of new experiences from the ground up.

  • Working with the Web Management and Development teams you will gain an understanding of each of our CMS’s and the templates / components they use.

  • Supporting the Senior UX Designer, provide the team with Art Direction and challenge the Web and Development team in producing new components for our component library that are designed with intention – thinking through all use cases, scalability and how they respond across all device types.

  • Working closely with Analytics and Senior UX Designer, you will come forward with suggestions on how to make continued improvements to our brand experiences online.

  • Experience in being able to stress test designs.

  • Experience in designing to three breakpoints (Mobile, Tablet and Desktop)

  • Ability to manage your own work and manage multiple projects at any one time, while maintaining quality of work.

  • Understand Web Accessibility constraints and how to stress test your designs to meet the AA Compliant standards

  • Being able to report up to your Line Manager on the status of your work, but also being able to call out risks / issues / blockers to ensure as a team we deliver to time and quality.

  • Working with the department and brand leads, support in managing projects in line with project management framework.

  • Demonstrates excellence in reading and understanding your audience.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience applying human-centered design and design thinking methodologies throughout digital product development

  • Domain specific expertise and perspective for user experience design solutions

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

  • Proven track record of solving complex problems with simple solutions

  • Strong portfolio with data driven insights

  • Ability to defend ideas and concepts from gathering rich consumer insights

  • Confident presentation and storytelling abilities

  • Proficiency with a range of prototyping and experience design tools

  • Experience in growing design systems and libraries

  • Familiarity with design thinking methodologies

  • Familiarity with remote moderated and un-moderated user testing techniques

  • Demonstrates excellence in reading and understanding your audience.

  • A creative designer who enjoys developing initial ideas through to completion.

  • A fantastic portfolio.

  • Experience in being able to stress test designs

  • Experience in designing to three breakpoints (Mobile, Tablet and Desktop)

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience in mobile App UX research; and related research tools / platforms

  • Experience in the Marine, RV or Automotive Industry

  • Proficient in Figma, XD and Adobe CS
