Responsibilities:
- Assist department manager with category management, negotiate with suppliers for favorable prices, terms, quality, and delivery
- Help ensure sufficient stock, attractive, accurate point-of-sale signage and eye-catching product displays in meat, fish, and poultry cases
- Partner with leadership regarding food and beverage business development and operations, focused on a strategy to optimize the Co-ops strategic position within our community
- Enforce department procedures to ensure safe food handling, preparation, sanitation, and security procedures
- Train staff in all aspects of the department, including customer service, ordering, and pricing, stocking, storage, rotation, displays, safe work habits, receiving and handling freight and invoices
- Maximize merchandising opportunities by building engaging, well-planned, product sets/displays that draw in consumers
- Ensure that all products are accurately labeled for description, ingredients, and price
- Maintain a working knowledge of the menu, vendors, products, market availability, and delivery schedules
- Ensure that food in display units, coolers, work areas, storage areas, and floors are in a clean and orderly condition and meet all Health Department requirements
