The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Compliance and Security Program Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Leading and representing our department in our work to be compliant with internal and external Security and Privacy policies and activities of the division

  • Implementing any security and privacy policies department wide including providing training and tracking as needed

  • Determining any situations where we need to improve processes to ensure the security of data we use in research, and information we share in and outside of 3M

  • Ensuring that appropriate access controls are in place around data (PHI or SHI), and locations (servers, the cloud) where our work is done

  • Supporting our acquisition of data for research under varying data use agreements and ensuring we follow the DUA requirements

  • Creating new processes as needed for our department to ensure compliance and the safety and success of our research efforts

  • Coordinating our CMS contract responsibilities regarding security and privacy and conducting the annual Contingency training and testing

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university OR High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution and a minimum of eleven (11) years of experience in healthcare technology/software development in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree education requirement

  • Five (5) years’ experience in the healthcare data privacy and security industry

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master's degree in related field to data privacy and data security

  • Experience with review and analysis of federal and state documentation related to information and data security

  • Working with security and privacy issues in previous positions

  • Project Management experience

  • Comfortable in a multicultural, complex, cross-functional and dynamic work environment, able to prioritize, multi-task, focus on goals, take accountability and manage time well.

Location: Meriden, CT or Silver Spring, MD or any HIS Office Location

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May not be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
