This is a 3rd shift position from 8:00pm - 6:00am Monday - Thursday. Starting pay is $21.70/hr + $1.00 shift differential.

Job Summary:

Set-up, adjust and operate multiple spindle automatic screw machines to perform progressive machining operations on a variety of standardized work having close tolerance and finish requirements. Troubleshoot and perform general maintenance on screw machines. May set-up and operate one or more machines to accomplish assigned work. Proceeds on work assignments with a minimum of supervision and/or direction. Must be able to communicate and use tact to instruct and assist operators.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Working from set-up layout, plan set-up and normal operating routine unassisted using prescribed methods.

  • Using a variety of measuring and gauging equipment, perform first piece inspection on all spindles and have verified by other team member.

  • Perform required adjustments and changes in layouts to tooling during new set-up.

  • Obtain required tooling from Tool crib personnel, as necessary.

  • Verify routers and revisions against blueprints prior to machining parts.

  • Load bar stock.

  • Ensure quality of product by first piece inspections, periodically checking parts and charting for statistical process control as required.

  • Perform general and preventative maintenance on tool machines as required and react to malfunctions or notify appropriate personnel to correct.

  • Will be certified in the proper installation and operation of all attachments.

  • Work safely at ALL times and comply with safety regulations regarding the use of protective equipment and devices.Meet or exceed production requirements or contact Facilitator with reason for deviations from standards.

  • Keep work area, equipment, machines, etc., clean and orderly at all times

  • Perform other miscellaneous duties and related functions as directed by Team Lead, Manager or other designated person.

  • Offer suggestions relative to improving productivity, process, safety, work environment, housekeeping, etc.

  • Communicate daily with operators from other shifts as to condition of machines and/or jobs.

  • Notify Team Lead or Manager of shortages of production tools, fixtures, oils, or other related problems.

  • Maintain records relating to production, downtime, work hours, quality, etc.

  • Will perform as a team member with the willingness and attitude to work with others to resolve problems. Must also maintain a good working relationships with others within the operation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have prior screw machine experience and have reached at least Level 3 Operator Criteria

  • Will be required to demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting and repair skills

  • Good communication skills

  • A willingness to learn

  • Commitment to continuous improvement and a team attitude are essential
