Baptist Memorial Specialist-Cash Posting Senior in Memphis, Tennessee
Summary
Coordinates and facilitates business functions in support of Revenue Cycle Management and Cash posting department to include: processing payments accurately and efficiently through data entry with established productivity guidelines and tools; generation of reports, communication and follow up with finance teams and other departments, problem resolution and payment research. Ensures that all shift-related responsibilities are completed by the end of the shift this includes payment posting (manual and electronic), logging and reconciling finance spreadsheets. As subject matter expert assists leadership in supporting/guiding personnel as needed to ensure optimum productivity.
Responsibilities
Communicates with Cash Posting Specialists and facility posters daily.
Acts as payment posting back up as assigned.
Completes journal entry posting as assigned.
Tracks facilities' unposted deposits on a daily basis.
Posts electronic remittance advice.
Posts explanation of benefits (EOB) manually.
Prints bank deposits daily and distribute within department, separating deposit information into sections, such as patient money, insurance, credit cards, etc.
Creates and maintain Cash Posting Log.
Maintains OnBase images.
Contributes to goals, programs and report cards for unit/department/hospital.
Maintains strong working relationships with internal and external customers by providing service assistance and open communication.
Facilitate help with ANSI standard codes/ Remark and Denial.
Help with reading, understanding and comprehension of Payor remits/Payment Advices (EOB's).
Manage daily workflow to accommodate all assigned tasks.
Works collaboratively with department administration.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Requirements, Preferences and Experience
Experience
minimum required
Two (2) years of accounts receivable experience.
Education
minimum required
High school diploma or equivalent
preferred/desired
Associates Degree
Training
minimum required
Skill and proficiency in applying the highly technical principles, concepts and techniques which are central to daily cash posting coordination/administration.
Special Skills
minimum required
Working knowledge of insurance billing (both hospital and professional settings) and collections. High-level cognitive ability to interpret and understand basic insurance terminology, remit codes and ANSI codes. Cognitive ability to interpret and understand written process documents and reference materials. Accuracy, timeliness and attention to detail. High level of critical thinking and problem solving required. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written, with patients, third parties and office staff to provide optimal levels of efficiencies.
Solid knowledge of insurance guidelines as it relates to CMS guidelines, TennCare and/or Medicaid based by state specified requirements.
Ability to recognize and communicate to clinical staff or designee when insurance companies require additional review because of NCC, CCI and LMRP mutually exclusive and medical necessity edits.
Effective customer service skills as it relates to patients and insurance companies.
Knowledge of mathematics and basic accounting principles. Demonstrated analytical skills in basic accounts receivable, accounting, billing, and collections. Ability to multitask and organize/prioritize a demanding workload. Technically competent and proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
