PRIMARY PURPOSE : To ensure compliance with all Federal, state, local and foreign regulations, as well as the policies and procedures specified in the company operations manual and flight department GOM/SOP manual. Responsible for the safe conduct of each flight and has the final authority in the operation of the aircraft for which assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as pilot in command (PIC) of flights for which the pilot has been assigned.

  • Provides excellent customer service to passengers.

  • Complies with schedules, and other directives governing the aircraft’s operation.

  • Ensures that preflight and post-flight inspections are performed and utilizes checklists for all phases of flight.

  • Studies weather conditions at destination, enroute, alternate airports and departure points.

  • Prepares flight plans (unless done by a licensed dispatcher).

  • Ensures that the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengers.

  • Reviews and calculates the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board and performance charts.

  • Supervises the first officer (second in command) in any duties necessary for the smooth, safe and efficient operation of the aircraft.

  • Coordinates the functions of all crewmembers assigned to the flight.

  • Monitors crew coordination, by sharing knowledge within the guidelines of the GOM/SOP.

  • Makes decisions necessary to start, delay, or cancel flights and/or deviate the flight from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate.

  • Supervises all contract flight crew members with adherence to company GOM/SOP and fully supports and participates in the company’s SMS, ASAP, and associated programs, to include department meetings.

  • Supports company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Travels as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

Possession of airline transport pilot (ATP) certificate with appropriate type ratings and first-class medical certificate required. Minimum 3,000 total flight hours logged with 500 PIC hours in multi-engine, turbojet powered aircraft required. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.

Experience

Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to include meeting all currency requirements regarding instrument flight time and night landings prior to flying any required trips and ability to pass an instrument competency check in the category of aircraft to be flown. If the pilot will be flying as a captain on turbine-powered aircraft, must have logged 500 hours as PIC in turbine-powered aircraft.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Thorough knowledge of company GOM/SOP manuals.

  • Thorough knowledge of flight operations, aircraft maintenance, and Cockpit Resource Management.

  • Knowledge of aviation regulations and safety requirements and procedures

  • Familiarity with the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO)

  • Strong knowledge of FAA Regulations (FAR’s)

  • Working knowledge of meteorology

  • Knowledge of flight departures/routes/flight plans/destination details/FBO necessities/aircraft fuel burns

  • Knowledge of record keeping: off/on times/ flight logs/ use of ground handling equipment

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English proficiently

  • Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills

  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products

  • Strong leadership/management/motivational skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Ability to learn and understand requirements outlined in company manuals as they apply

  • Ability to work well with senior management as well as peers and subordinates

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
