About the role The Sr. Global Commodity Manager (GCM) is responsible for the financial and operational performance within the raw material category (brass, copper, steel, wire and aluminum). The Sr. GCM is accountable for all supplier selection decisions and operating performance relative to cost, quality, and delivery. The Sr. GCM is responsible in developing a global commodity strategy that help enable the businesses execute their operations plan. The strategy will include input from BU stakeholders to insure we have alignment on who we select to partner with in support of our material requirements. The Sr. GCM operates primarily independently but guided with input from the VP, Sourcing and BU VP/GM’s. The Sr. Global Commodity Manager is looked at as an expert in the department to guide less experienced buyers. The Sr. GCM and will have frequent interactions with Leviton’s Senior Management team. Responsibilities Ensure Leviton Quality Standards are maintained at all times Ensure Quality programs exist at all major suppliers Address Quality issues with Suppliers to ensure quality meets or exceeds quality requirements and corrective actions are implemented immediately upon notification of any failure Negotiation Performs negotiations and determines most competitive solutions, using a wide degree of creativity and latitude Responsible to meet the cost reduction targets developed on a yearly basis Understands department and individual goals and initiatives Takes an active role in achieving the departments goals and initiatives in all aspects of their work Works daily to achieve their individual yearly goals developed during the yearly review process Develops Commodity Strategies Good understanding of the raw material market Able to develop a comprehensive commodity strategy Effectively communicates the commodity strategy to senior leadership and other functional groups to get alignment throughout the organization Drives the commodity strategy to achieve the results contained within Ability to understand business law; aware of international law. Execute contract agreements with key strategic suppliers. Able to create new or unique T&C's for legal review; working knowledge of intellectual property, indemnification, and liability Proficient in managing and / or leading multi-location / global projects Regularly leads cross-functional teams Ability to construct value stream industry maps and utilize advanced financial techniques Ability to recognize and capitalize on team skills /dynamics Demonstrated ability to hold cost-out sessions with suppliers and appropriate internal stakeholders Able to manage complex commercial relationships Identifies and drives out non-value added activities Conducts regular Business Performance Reviews with Suppliers Has a good understanding of Best Practices within the Supply Chain Able to teach "Should Cost" models and develop Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model including non-monetary benefits Can teach a variety of purchasing concepts and procedures Knows the high level global implication of Market Condition changes and how these effect the plastics and resin commodity Global Awareness: Familiar with International companies and their countries business practices and able to structure both domestic and international agreements May have less experienced buyers report to them Qualifications Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; may have some advanced skills in the use of these applications Skilled in analysis, finance, cash management, and supply chain Knowledge of the use of electronic collaboration tools Must be creative and resourceful Able to think independently and offer solutions to problems Must be attentive to detail and consistently organized Must exercise good judgment in time management and work prioritization Must be able to make decisions as required in the processing of purchase orders and invoices; must refer decisions regarding pricing, supplier selection, and higher level procedural processes to sourcing leadership Frequent contacts with various groups both internal and external to Leviton Must, at all times, maintain a professional representation of Leviton Ability to work with users at various levels to develop solutions, resolve problems, and generate management reports Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering OR a Bachelor's Degree in a related field with successful completion of the CPIM certification MBA preferred Minimum of 10 years’ of work experience At least 5 years’ experience in sourcing with demonstrated performance and leadership competency driving strategy, operations performance results and cost management.
