Principal Associate, Global Trade Compliance Advisory
Capital One's Global Sanctions and Trade Compliance team is seeking a Global Trade Compliance Advisor Principal Associate. This role will assist in the building and execution of a global trade compliance program and will work cross-functionally with stakeholders to develop specific processes and procedures that support this effort. In supporting the global trade compliance program, this role will also perform key risk management (second line of defense) activities to help ensure corporate initiatives and lines of business processes comply with the applicable global trade laws and regulation. The Principal Associate will assist the department with various global trade projects, including risk assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of Capital One's global trade compliance program
Perform and identify key risks and mitigations for corporate initiatives to ensure that they comply with global trade laws and regulations and are in line with Capital One's Compliance Management Program
Support cross-functional and enterprise-wide global trade compliance program initiatives and project teams supporting the global trade compliance program
Support the development of communication and training to educate stakeholders and performers on their roles and responsibilities under this program
Support global trade program deliverables; identify and track impediments; perform and contribute to periodic status reporting and metrics
Maintain a repository for global trade program documentation (i.e. export analysis requests and final analysis)
Collaborate with other compliance advisors to conduct risk assessments of new initiatives and products
Monitor Export Control Analysis mailbox

Experience with risk management and the three lines of defense model

Confidence in their ownership of the immediate role with vision beyond their direct areas of responsibility
Strong thirst for knowledge and willingness to ask questions and seek understanding
Ability to navigate gray space and balance operating independently with strong judgment and a keen sense of when to escalate to leadership
Support and engage in overall global trade compliance governance team responsibilities and objectives, including contributing to the development of training, supporting audit and regulatory examinations, management reporting, change governance, policy governance, requirement oversight, business continuity, etc.
Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills (written and oral)
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or military experience
At least 2 years of experience working in Governance, Risk and Compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in Risk Management program
Experience with Export Administration or other trade regulations

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Chicago, IL: $106,700 - $121,700 for Compliance Advisory Specialist IIICandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
