Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (Prognostics and Health Management) to our team in Melbourne, FL.

The ideal candidate should have a background in Prognostics and Health Management (PHM), Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM), Diagnostics and Health Management (DHM), and/or Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) engineering analyses.

This position requires proven experience in quickly learning new concepts and approaches for the technical analysis and planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for entire systems integration and operation.

Analyses are performed at all levels of the complete system lifecycle to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Position ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Candidate will be expected to perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Job Duties:

  • Analyze various types of flight/fault logs, assign Fault Identification (FID) codes, and host customer BIT Review Boards (BRB)

  • Interface with multiple stakeholders, contractors, and customers from a variety of organizations (internally and externally) in support of improving Built-In-Test (BIT) Fault Detection, Fault Isolation and BIT False Alarm rates and metrics

  • Maintain a strong understanding of aerospace hardware and software design to ensure that PHM/BIT solutions can be fully integrated

  • Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, and other technical managers and customers

  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated system engineers

  • Support requirements development and integration of new PHM/DHM-enabled systems for the next generation of aerospace vehicles

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in a relevant STEM discipline with 9 years of experience; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field with 7 years of experience; OR a STEM PhD with 4 years of experience.

  • Experience within Supportability, Product Support Engineering OR other relevant engineering disciplines.

  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance prior to starting, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio, Project, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Office Products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated effective professional and leadership skills.

  • Experience within Health Management, Prognostics, Diagnostics, and/or Reliability & Maintainability Engineering disciplines.

  • Strong experience working in DoD, aviation, or aerospace-focused positions

  • Master’s degree in a relevant STEM field.

  • Possess an active Top-Secret (or higher) clearance.

  • Working knowledge of Data Science, Data Analytics, AI/ML/DL techniques

Salary Range: $114,900 - $172,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
