Job Summary

This Spring 2025 Internship offers a part-time, paid opportunity to work with and assist Verification Engineers in the Electro-Optical & Infrared Systems division. DRS emphasizes a friendly, team-oriented culture and offers a dynamic work environment where engineers are not restricted to a single task. Interns will gain hands-on experience in various stages of projects, with opportunities for exploration and growth.

Job Responsibilities

  • Involved with the testing of electro-optical systems

  • Develop performance models and test procedures

  • Support engineering with routine engineering duties and/or hands-on tasks

  • Work independently on daily tasks

  • Assist in design, build and/or procurement of new or improved machines, tools, fixtures and material handling equipment and coordinating the implementation

  • Under direction, responsible for completing process documentation, and testing of hardware

  • Review project instructions and drawings to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem and possible solutions, and to support the design for manufacture

  • Under direction, set up and conduct tests of units and components

  • Analyze test results related to the design and test objectives and adjusts equipment to bring within specification; record these test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test methods

  • Assist in the creation of documentation to maintain equipment

  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a 4 years degree program or 2 years Masters program in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Enrolled at time of application as a Junior or Senior with at least a minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Word)

  • Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to build a good network

  • Must be diligent, hardworking, and quick study
