Purpose of the position
Manage allocation of resources (personnel, plant and equipment) at your designated work site to deliver the optimum benefit to the organisation.
Responsible for ensuring manning levels support the completion of forecast work.
Manage a team ensuring everyone performing work, or affected by work, knows exactly what is going on before and after it happens and is well informed ahead of time on what work is occurring, and how it will affect them.
Strive to maximise their own billable recovery ensuring they actively participate in scheduled work
Work closely with the client, works coordinator, and management in order to know what future work is to be done.
Responsible for the quality of work delivered by the team
Supports the Technicians and boilermaker/s in the daily activity and planning for work
Scope out jobs requested by the clients/Service Manager and work with the Service Manager to provide all relevant information to quote jobs as required.
Quote jobs direct to the customer where instructed by the Service Manager.
Understands how the site and operation works and looks for opportunities to drive cost reduction, early intervention repair work or improvements to extend operating life of all related equipment at the site.
Responsible for daily customer service execution on quality and on time
Accountable for Customer satisfaction, develop working relationships with suppliers and clients.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Occupational Health & Safety Compliance
Ensure all company policies and procedures are understood and adhered to by all site staff
Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop relevant SWMS/JSA’s as required
Ensure equipment / tools are maintained to safe and serviceable level
Ensure the safety of all persons in the workshop, and at any site where tasks are performed
Ensure that all allocated work areas are maintained in a safe, clean and tidy condition at all times
Participate in regular HSE meetings
Assist in the identification of risks or the identification of risk controls that are not working effectively
Ensure all relevant Comply One tasks are carried out daily by team members (Take 5, Safety Walk, Hazard Reports etc.
Site Duties
Ensure all site service employees comply with Inver Port Services/Kalmar company procedures and regulations
Ensure compliance of site maintenance agreement where applicable
Ensure repair work is carried out efficiently to minimize machine down time
Ensure all work is carried out in a timely and efficient manner
Contributes to service jobs where his work or support is needed
Look for opportunities for Inver Port Services to participate in and report to Service Manager
Whilst on site discuss with the customer any requests for further work for the Inver Port Services
Continuously learns about new Port Equipment
Technical
Keep abreast of the features and benefits of products
Ensure that customer machines are back in operations within the specific time as per KPI’s agreed
Advise Service Technicians on the following:
Trouble-shooting and diagnosis methods
Rectification process and technical know-how in solving issues
Cascade down preventative measures / precautions to ensure that defects / issues do not reoccur
Solutions to problems where technical expertise is required
Staff Management
Supervise technical team to ensure effective utilisation of IPS personnel
Supervise technical team to ensure effective utilisation of client’s equipment
Develop technical workforce as in line with business development needs
Work in close cooperation with Technicians to ensure work execution on quality and on time
Oversees daily service execution in a workshop or within a project
Administrative Duties
Ensure all administration and commercial work is carried out in a timely and efficient manner
Reports service work (during the day, at the end of each job)
Reports work time (daily), timesheets
Customer site SWAPs
Budgets
Compliance with site service and operating budget
Maximise billable allocation of resources
Stock Control
Manage team vehicles tooling allocation
Supervise allocation of spare parts for service wor
Maintain spare parts stock levels to ensure availability of consumable service part
Manage all assets to ensure effective utilisation
Reporting
Review technician timesheets and ensure accuracy of all details
Provide technical reporting to the Service Manger when required
Relationship building
Liaise with client site representatives
Work in close cooperation with all stakeholders to align on efficient work plans
Additional
Ensure all warranty repairs are carried out in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with OEM Process
Other duties as requested by your manager
What you’ll need to succeed
Education
Mechanical / electrical engineering tertiary qualification or;
Formal trade qualification (mechanical / electrical)
Completion of year 12
Experience
Must have leadership experience within a mechanical or electrical industry
Experience with cranes in the mechanical handling, port or industrial operations industry sector
Previous experience in using a computer based service and or maintenance management system
