We are looking to hire 2x Lead Engineer (HVAC/Electrical/HV trades background)

Preferences someone in Data Centre Environment/Critical Infrastructure

About the role:

To provide exceptional customer service and comprehensive Maintenance services to the client and the contract.

In order to be successful in the role it is key that the Lead Engineer understands procedures, processes and operates them to the required standards

Location of Work: Truganina Victoria 3029

Working arrangement: Mon to Friday (37.5 hours per week)

Client support role for Data Centre Hyperscale Critical Environment

What You’ll Do:

Contract

Drive high quality commercial performance through understanding the contractual commitments

Continually develop systems to maximize efficiency benefits for the customer and CBRE

Operational

Provision of all-round engineering support in maintaining the Operational Assets

Responsible for ensuring that all Engineering Operational activities within the buildings are controlled and that they are being carried out with due regard to Health and Safety, business risk and maintaining the 100% uptime criteria

Appointed as an HV authorised person for the sites you will champion technical operations compliance at all times

Responsible for maintaining excellent standards of response to Asset performance, completion of assigned work and ensure any abnormal operating conditions and housekeeping issues are dealt with proficiently

Deliver effective business communication through advice, review, leadership and direct contribution to management and team meetings, briefings, consultation forums, correspondence, publicity, monthly and ad-hoc reporting and other publications, as appropriate

Ensure that effective and efficient systems are in place to: Plan the work ahead, manage the work daily on the ground, communicate the issues around the work to the key stakeholders and measure our performance at completing work on time and the performance of our staff

Effectively lead management related activities including regular management meetings; development of operational procedures; fostering of good relationships, providing services of the highest standards

Be a point of contact during significant events or multi-discipline technical escalations occurring within the specified sites

As necessary, participate in any business continuity plans the team may be involved in

Ensure data centre operations and CBRE business policies and processes are complied with at your sites i.e. effectively communicated, implemented and adhered to within the contract

Supervise and manage the technical on-site team members to ensure exceptional performance is being achieved. The Lead Engineer is responsible for setting performance goals for the team, as well as responsible for the development, coaching, and counselling of the team members

Ensure optimum staffing structures operate across contracts efficiently and ensure structures support peaks and troughs in workload, and disaster recovery

Ensure post holders are fully competent, and that effective succession planning arrangements are in place, monitoring staff retention rates and ensuring staff training & development plans are produced and implemented

Ensure all absence is fully covered by suitably trained and experienced staff to ensure full 24/7 coverage

Responsible to coordinate work permits and to escalate where necessary approval of permits that can affect the business-critical systems.

Closely monitor the Risk Assessments and Supplier activities on the campus and ensure they follow current H&S legalisation

Ensure appropriate control systems are in place to ensure statutory, policy and contractual commitments are met

Ensure a customer focus within all areas of operational activities, and that effective relationships are maintained with key client contacts. Ensuring contractually agreed SLA’s and KPI’s within the Scope of Works (SOW) are met and necessary record retention demonstrating adherence

Manage contractors/suppliers to insure maintenance, repairs, and operations are to a high standard and in line with maintenance agreements/SLAs

Hold regular designated vendor management meetings

Follow designated agenda and meeting template in vendor meetings

Develop, implement and audit local Method of Procedures (MOP’s), Standard Operating, Procedures (SOP’s), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP’s)

Promote and maintaining the core Values of CBRE and ensure the professional image of CBRE is presented onsite all times

Manage other tasks as directed by the client

Escalate relevant matters to superiors as soon as practically possible

Items are actioned in a timely manner, Non-Conformances are issued where relevant and close management of vendors is applie

Supporting CMMS Operator in scheduling, closing off PPM’s and entering reactive works to the planned preventative maintenance system will also be part of the position

Provide relief to the Critical Facilities Manager during their absence

People

Provision of leadership and guidance, advice, coaching and direct support, where required to deliver best practice selection, training, assessment, recognition/reward and appraisal systems

Create a learning environment on the site by providing the appropriate training and development planning for each member of CBRE staff. Ensure basic training needs are delivered, employees are fully competent to undertake their roles, and are able to reach their full future potential

Talent manage staff to ensure an appropriate training plan and career progression is identified

Functional on boarding of new employees and facilitation

Maintaining a logbook of trade licence information, updating the org chart and coordination of team and employee engagement activities

Organising training for the team and maintaining training records where required

Arranging agency cover and submitting hours on portal

Culture carrier and promotes best practice

Customer Relationship Management - Maintain positive relationship with the Clients/Customers

Hold team members accountable to performance standards, managing, understanding and addressing any underperformance appropriately

Participate in work related team meetings and activities as required

Actively promote teamwork within the team, contract and business

Quality and Safety

• QHSE - Responsible for administrative tasks related to QHSE

• Co-ordination of sub-contractor files, ensuring they are statutorily compliant with QHSE requirements

• Reporting and management of work management system

• Logging hazards & customer feedback on the QHSE Management Portal

• Log books compliance

• Maintain e-Logbooks

• Maintaining compliance with all mandatory training

Others

• Receiving supplier quotes and uploading onto the internal system for client approval

• Working with the procurement team when required

• Updating Portals as and when required

• Constantly improve quality, service, and efficiency

• Process improvement

• Being a person who can be turned to for expert knowledge, advice, or reliable performance, especially in a crucial situation

What You’ll Need:

Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Essential

• Managerial experience at Facility Manager or Contract Manager within a critical environment

• Must understand all the associated safety code related requirements relative to providing the service. Experience with Health & Safety Risk Assessments and Control Measures

• Experience of maintaining critical & temperature control conditioned environments

• Detailed understanding and experience of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including: Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Fuel Systems, Switchgear, UPS systems, Battery banks, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Air handling units, chilled water systems, Fire Alarm systems, and Fire Suppression systems (pre-action sprinklers).

• Prior experience of managing large scale outsourced contracts

• Prior operations management experience including team management, work scheduling, and performance reviews

• Prior exposure to maintenance scheduling and subcontractor management and supervision

• Strong understanding of ticketing or workflow management systems and tools

• Experience of managing escalation and emergency issues

• Experience in vendor management, ability to manage and monitor progress to ensure objectives are achieved for outsourced support and projects

• Familiarity with ISO/FISMA audit processes and documentation

• Practical experience must include recruitment and line management/supervisory experience.
