This is a combined posting for an Associate Medical Assistant and Medical Assistant. The requirements of each role are listed below under each associated title. The Medical Assistant (MA) I works under the delegation of a licensed practitioner to perform duties as directed to assist in providing basic patient care to assigned patients. Basic patient care needs will be met though both administrative and clinical duties. An MA I is expected to perform in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

The Medical Assistant (MA) II works under the delegation of a licensed practitioner to perform duties as directed to assist in providing patient care to assigned patients. A MA II performs all aspects of the MA I role and is fully competent in the clinical needs/functions for assigned clinic/location of work. An MA II is expected to perform in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

This role is responsible for administrative as well as clinical tasks, such as maintaining patient records, preparing patients and rooms for examination, and assisting physicians with exams.

The job utilizes a combination of skills including:

  • Clerical computer and phone skills

  • Customer service/people skills

  • Medical terminology

  • Hands on clinical skills

Typical job skills include:

  • taking vital signs like pulse and blood pressure

  • updating medications, allergies and other information in patient’s medical records

  • performing some medical procedures, specimen collection and lab testing

The position will support the delivery of cost-effective, clinically competent, reliable healthcare by following the core values of Providence Medical Group – justice, excellence, dignity, integrity, and compassion.

We offer both full and part time positions. You have a choice to work in one selected clinic or to float between the clinics we serve.

Providence Medical Group is a group of primary care and specialty care clinics serving patients in Southern Oregon between Eagle Point and Ashland. Our clinicians and staff strive to create a distinctive health care experience for each patient – one focused on trust, respect, communication, and teamwork.

Associate Medical Assistant:

Required qualifications:

  • Has completed an accredited Medical Assistant program that includes an externship or has completed two years of medical training in the United States Armed Forces

  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire

  • Medical assisting experience in a clinic setting (0-6 months)

Preferred qualifications:

  • 6 months prior experience providing a high level of customer service in a fast paced environment

  • 6 months previous experience in a healthcare setting working with an Electronic Health record (EHR)

Associate Medical Assistant, Salary Range:

Oregon

Min: $17.88, Max: $27.31

Medical Assistant:

Required qualifications:

  • Graduate of accredited school that includes hands on training in a clinical setting for medical assistants or has completed two years medical training in the United States Armed Forces or

  • In lieu of Coursework/Training: Minimum one year of work experience as a medical assistant that includes the following clinical skills: obtaining vital signs, administering injections and medication administration.

  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire

  • 6 months Healthcare experience

  • 6 months Medical Assistant experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • National Medical Assistant Certification upon hire

Medical Assistant, Salary Range:

Oregon

Min: $19.38, Max: $29.61
