MD Anderson Cancer Center Postdoctoral Fellow - Breast Radiation Oncology in MDA-On-Site, United States

The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Fellow is to assist the Principal Investigator and other Faculty members with scientific research projects. The primary activity of this position is academic research in association with a faculty member or team. An opening currently exists with an examination of the role of cholesterol and novel targets in inflammatory breast cancer, novel animal models of inflammatory breast cancer, immune responses against inflammatory breast cancer, and metastasis in inflammatory breast cancer.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

-Perform technical laboratory duties, techniques, in vivo and in vitro experiments studying inflammatory breast cancer biology and response to treatments including immunotherapy and/or radiotherapy.

-Projects may include the generation of novel animal models and use of humanized animal models and PDX models; in vitro and in vivo LVSI assays; microfluidic modeling and data analysis, multiplexed immunofluorescence data analysis, next-generation approaches to miRNA and mRNA pathways; small animal image-guided radiotherapy; tissue harvesting and microscopy; in vivo and ex vivo immunological assays; in vitro radiosensitivity assays; implementation/development of novel protocols and procedures; execution of experiments; analysis of results.

-Familiarity with histology, animal husbandry, in vivo surgical techniques, and immune and miRNA assays is preferred. Ideal candidates would possess experience in molecular biology, cell culture, and animal models of human cancer.

-Training and supervising other research personnel on techniques and equipment procedures.

-Maintenance of laboratory safety procedures records and facilities.

-Collect, analyze, and plot data using appropriate software applications, and store and record data on computer and lab notebooks.

-Assist in writing scientific papers for publication, grant applications, and presentations at scientific meetings.

-Other duties as assigned.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Education Required: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate

Experience Required: Five years of experience in scientific or experimental research work.

Preferred: With preferred degree, four years of required experience.

POSITION INFORMATION

MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the Kirchstein - NRSA (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-23-076.html) . This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.
