UX Engineer

We are currently seeking a “hybrid” role of a Designer/Developer (someone who can champion both the Design and Development side in implementing Design work) to join our team. You’ll be asked to handle a variety of responsibilities, including:

Collaboration & Connection:

  • Being the liaison between the design realm and engineering

  • Collaborating closely with UX Designers and Developers to use our design system and its accompanying code, building your own if necessary and contributing back, all while keeping an eye on accessibility standards

  • Advocating for internal financial associates through human-centered design methodologies, including: discovery, ideation, whiteboard sessions, and user testing

  • Supporting design-led workshops to engage and build alignment across different partners and teams

  • Championing prioritization of design-centered product enhancements grounded in research and analysis

  • Connecting with design and developer community peers by learning, sharing, and teaching

  • Working with partners and teams across various geographies

  • Embracing and advocating for an experience mindset - this is as important to the work as the results

Discovery & Delivery

  • Supporting early product definition by working with partners to facilitate discovery sessions that uncover customer pain points and opportunities

  • Demonstrating familiarity with design tools to deliver concepts and enable successful collaboration across teams

  • Contributing to the design system, style guides, iconography, and infographics that can be leveraged by teams

  • Working with product design by:

  • Partnering with researchers to understand customer needs and interpreting information into visual forms that are impactful and intuitive

  • Framing problems, determining insights, and defining visual designs to serve customer needs

  • Contributing to or proactively leading or driving project work as opportunities arise

  • Working within existing - and creating new - standards to contribute to our internal design system, best practices, and guidelines including accessibility standards

  • Storytelling and presenting visual concepts to various stakeholders

  • Partner with Designers who create the design assets, then prototype and flesh out the code to both test concepts and know when to stop coding and hand off work to tech

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of web development experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in User Interface design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with building interfaces in HTML, CSS, and Angular or another modern JavaScript framework

  • Have an understanding and passion for clean, extensible, accessible and maintainable code

  • Experience designing for cross channel experiences

  • Comfortable working with a variety of business partners and delivering outcomes

  • Familiarity with design and prototyping tools, such as: Figma, Sketch, Invision and/or Adobe Creative Suite

  • Experience with working in an established design system

  • Experience with TypeScript
