Join MITRE’s Systems Engineering Innovation Center in the Systems Engineering Analytics Department and be part of the group that supports Test and Evaluation. We focus on the development of test strategies, planning, and coordination to field effective and efficient, complex systems.
As member of the Test and Evaluation group, the candidate will have the opportunity to: • Solve problems across the MITRE sponsor domain (e.g., DoD, DHS, VA, IRS, CMS)• Work with software and system engineers to evaluate and improve large, complex systems• Apply principles of test and evaluation to AI systems and to systems in model-based engineering environments and as part of DevSecOps pipelines• Participate in and contribute to key program technical documentation, and support the customer/sponsor in making necessary system acceptance decisions
As a System engineer, you will leverage and grow your systems engineering expertise to provide support to challenging projects at a system or system of systems level. Specific responsibilities may include:• Adapting development and test practices to emerging and evolving best practices and policies for developmental and operational testing• Support government leaders in defining and implementing their T&E Strategies, leveraging Agile/SAFe practices • Ensure robust test data preparation and management processes and practices• Provide T&E subject matter expertise as teams evolve and apply testing best practices. Evaluate, recommend, and implement test techniques, tools, and strategies; provide testing knowledge and understanding for the support of user requirements of complex software/hardware applications• Conduct qualitative and quantitative systems engineering analyses that can be translated into actionable recommendations for federal agencies• Support the development of key T&E practices for AI, Cloud, Big Data, Model Based Testing and Test Automation
• Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer, Engineering, Systems Engineering or related major.• 5 + years related work experience• Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining & maintaining a US government clearance.
• Documented proficiency evaluating, recommending, and implementing test techniques, tools, and strategies• Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative systems analyses• Proficient problem-solving skills and capability to collaborate with scientists, analysts, technical experts, and subject matter experts across several technical disciplines• Desire to learn new techniques and approaches while on-the-job by leveraging structured educational content, published research, and expertise from team members• Excellent written and verbal communication skill
• Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or relevant technical discipline• Experience testing software applications and cloud-based architectures• Experience working with Agile and/or DevOps software development methodologies• Experience with Autonomous or AI systems• Experience with DOD or other federal agencies (e.g. DHS, FAA, CMS)
