JOB OVERVIEW

As a Sunrise human resource professional, you are expected to create an alignment with our mission and values supporting the overall human resource strategy and partnering with Operations and Community Support Office (CSO) staff to ensure human resource programs and initiatives align with and drive desired business results. The Regional Human Resources Director’s overall focus is centered on supporting the following major themes: developing and strengthening the Sunrise culture, developing skills and leadership talents of the regional teams, promoting brand integrity and consistent execution, creating leadership pipeline and driving sustained profitability for Sunrise and Capital Partners. These responsibilities will be achieved by driving the highest level of support on key human resource (HR) operational areas: Leadership and Talent Development, Team Member Relations, Compliance and Legal actions, and Recruitment. This includes participating in the delivery of training, development of programs, and managing the participation to support business priorities. In addition, providing coaching, development, and mentoring to regional and community level management teams along with Senior HR Managers and working with the Vice President (VP) of Human Resources Operations and CSO Partners to manage talent assessment and development of leaders within the region, including Executive Directors and Regional Teams.

Leadership and Talent Development

• Train, develop and coach Senior Human Resources Managers.

• Provide guidance on workforce planning, succession planning, and talent management to meet regional growth goals.

• Provide HR expertise in the areas of feedback, team member relations, development and coaching, compensation, and organizational development.

• Lead key organizational initiatives as a member of an operational-function team in support of Sunrise performance and leadership programs such as:

• Performance Management

• Team Member Experience

• Leadership Review

• Policy & Procedure Leadership

• Partner with Regional Leadership in analyzing and interpreting various types of team member reports, (i.e. turnover, compensation, etc) to guide decision making and provide proactive solutions to drive business outcomes.

• Educate, coach and partner with regional leaders on performance management and team member development goals.

• Leverage program resources and data analytics to assess talent and collaborate with regional leaders on effective performance management discussions. Develop plans for recruitment, training, restructuring and succession and guides regional leaders and Executive Directors (ED) to implement them.

• Develop and execute HR strategies that align with regional and corporate objectives.

• Lead the facilitation of team development events for regional level team members and community management teams as needed.

• Drive the facilitation of a wide range of training programs within the region including human resource management and leadership, leadership and organizational development programs and workshops, Federal and State/Province required trainings and compliance trainings.

• Partner in the overall leadership development process and talent assessment discussions, strategies and actions in support of talent development of Regional Leaders and Executive Directors.

• Partner in region specific people strategy to include but not limited to ED In Training (EDIT) programs and participation, Sunrise Job Coaches, and recruitment initiatives.

• Promote and champion consistent utilization of an effective on-boarding process for all new Executive Directors and Regional team members within the region.

• Perform any duties as assigned by the Vice President of Field HR Ops and Vice President of Operations.

Team Member Relations

• Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated team member issues and conflict resolution.

• Leverage data and feedback programs to monitor and identify themes impacting team member experience.

• Provide HR assessments and expertise to the Regional Leaders and Executive Directors on team member related issues ranging from selection and hiring to discipline and terminations.

• Oversee the facilitation of follow up impact plans and actions by identifying behavioral trends through the Ethics and Compliance system and the Team Member Experience surveys.

• Offer thought leadership regarding organizational and people-related strategy and execution.

• Collaborate with regional teams to develop HR strategy that guides leaders to take action and communicate outcomes.

• Partner with Regional Leadership to develop a response strategy when a community experiences pervasive, ongoing or urgent team member relations events.

• Promote and conduct thorough investigations pertaining to team member relations matters, allegations, and charges.

Compliance & Legal

• Communicate effectively and oversee Federal, State/Province and local laws and Company policies to ensure compliance and support as it pertains to the communities and Regional leaders.

• Provide timely information and/or education on state regulatory requirements for team member employment and onboarding requirements.

• Lead HR policies, practices, and systems for application and implementation, fairly and consistently in all communities.

• Partner in support of timely EEOC and similar legal notices responses, resolution and closures.

• Act as a liaison between community, and labor attorneys for region and community employment legal matters.

• Oversee the facilitation of effective human resource and related trainings.

• Research, plan, organize, and conduct workshops for community and regional leaders.

• Provide transfer of knowledge of labor laws and follow up for compliance regulations when needed.

• Partner with Regional Leaders and Risk Management Leaders in preventing and resolving workers compensation concerns.

Recruitment

• Attract, hire, retain, and develop top talent.

• Implement employee development programs, including onboarding, training, and performance management.

• Partner with the Divisional Talent Acquisition Manager for all Executive Directors and Regional team members being considered for positions within the region.

• Support the recruitment strategies through training leaders on Behavioral Interviewing philosophy and other effective recruitment tools and resources, including new community developments and acquisitions, job fairs, and other recruitment events.

• Maintain compliance in assigned required training and all training required by state/province or other regulating authorities as applicable to this role to ensure that Sunrise standards are always met.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed throughout this job description are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field

• Seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressive experience in Human Resources with at least 3-5 years in a regional or multi-site leadership role.

• Management and / or Operations experience

• Experience in leading projects preferred

• Proven ability to lead strategic HR initiatives across a diverse workforce.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

• Experience managing complex employee relations issues.

• Ability to interpret Human Resources (HR) analytics to drive business results

• Able to work flexible hours and be available to respond during off-duty hours to regional / community problems and emergencies

• Able to travel within a geographic area or on assignments with Sunrise
