MITRE is seeking a Business Operations intern to assist as a pioneer for a newly formed Acceleration Office. In this role, you would assist in designing, building, and maintaining the operations infrastructure for the team and projects they support. This position would report to the Chief of Staff and Operations and focuses on the development, communication, and execution of the business to advance MITRE’s corporate strategy and outreach to industry.

Our team will bring experts across the enterprise and take these solutions to the non-US government sector, furthering our mission of creating a safer world. In this role, you will work in a small but nimble team that contextualizes new ideas for growth in market dynamics, analyze their financial viability and competitive differentiation, and develop paths to market. Your specific role is to support those projects as they are brought forward so we can deliver on our sponsors’ most important missions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Interact cross-functionally with team members in a hybrid and in-person work setting to identify & implement innovative solutions which improve experiences for employees

  • Learn internal team infrastructure and support the operations team, as needed in the following areas:

  • Coordinate operations logistics, project management of various tasks and initiatives, hiring and onboarding support, team logistics, research, budgeting, and reporting, as needed.

  • Monitoring monthly planned versus actual staffing and conduct outreach to train and adjust charging

  • Survey data collection, data analysis and identification of opportunities for process improvement to positively impact quality and employee experience

  • Assist in creation of transformational project plans

Basic Qualifications

  • 2025 High School graduate and pursuing a college degree in Business, Information Technology, Systems Engineering or related field.

  • This position would be a part-time, as needed, position during the fall through spring months.

  • Excellent research and writing skills - proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar (Google Docs)

  • Experience conducting research and creating thoughtful presentation materials

  • Sustained excellence in academic performance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with software programs such as - Microsoft SharePoint, graphics design tools, data analytics/visualization tools - Tableau/Python, and CRM tools like Salesforce, HubSpot High personal standards for objectivity, rigor, and follow through.

  • Adaptable and able to change direction swiftly as project needs or stakeholders change. 

  • Demonstrated interest in serving the public.
