Job Responsibilities:

As a MITRE Applied Cybersecurity Engineer, you’ll apply your expertise across a variety of complex and intriguing cyber challenges for our government Sponsors. You’ll deliver informed, innovative solutions by identifying opportunities through analysis of strategic and technical components, such as software, processes, and data. You’ll utilize your creative thinking and advanced skills in cybersecurity, software engineering and development, systems engineering lifecycle, and systems integration. The work you do will have a direct impact on our sponsors and you’ll have opportunities to share your analysis within the MITRE and government Sponsor communities.

The work is based out of MITRE’s McLean campus, primarily in a fast-paced, hands-on technical lab, with opportunities to work directly with our sponsors at their site. You’ll have the opportunity to share your knowledge and accomplishments MITRE-wide through technical meetings. You and your MITRE colleagues will partner across the US Government to tackle challenges facing the safety, stability, and well-being of our nation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Innovative, curious mindsets

  • Willingness to be hands-on and experiment with technology

  • Ability to objectively explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical decision-makers

  • Experienced with one or more of the following: Hands-on building, software development; troubleshooting, designing technical systems; open-source research; systems administration; network security; threat detection or analytics; incident response; intelligence platforms; and/or technology transfer

  • Programming Languages: Python; C; Java

  • Bachelor’s Degrees in computer science, engineering, technology, communications, or related fields

  • Active Top-Secret/Special Compartment Information Clearance

  • Full-scope Polygraph is desired but not required
