Our Surveillance and Optics Mechanical Systems (SOMS) organization at Raytheon provides the joint warfighter with actionable information from an unblinking eye across the battlespace. As a Principal Optomechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading efforts to produce cutting-edge components for our programs. This individual will be focused on hardware design and documentation, system build and integration, and delivery of high-quality hardware to the warfighter. The position is directly tied to development and delivery of precision EO/IR hardware designs under the guidance of the Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) and the Program Chief Engineer in McKinney, Texas.

You’re highly skilled in:
Optomechanical design and development
Solving technical challenges to meet budget and schedule allocations
Mechanical design processes
3D hardware modeling
EO/IR system development
Task ownership
Interpersonal and communication skills
Required Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field
You’re a great match with:
6 or more years professional experience in a production or design environment
Ability to work to a defined budget/schedule and provide status
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Design experience utilizing PTC Creo modeling software
Self-starter, able to manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines
Experience with electro-optical components and sub-systems
Ability to lead teams to achieve goals
Drive to mentor and grow team members
Demonstrated leadership experience
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
U.S. Citizenship required as the applicant must have the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance within the first year after start date

The following position is to join our Corporate or Research Center Team:
Requires advanced to expert knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have broad knowledge of project management. Requires substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or
systems in order to provide enhancements within job area. Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years
prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a
minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
