The Embedded Secure Systems Engineering (ESSE) Department is seeking a recognized technical subject matter expert and leader committed to creating innovative and cost-effective system security solutions.

The Senior Manager, is a hybrid Team Management and Technical SME role, reporting to the ESSE Department Manager. The role will be approximately 20% Management , 80% Technical Collaboration and Hands-On Engineering. The role requires a high degree of creativity and ingenuity, and will be responsible for architecting, designing, developing, and implementing advanced systems leveraging security integrity and cyber security concepts and solutions. It is responsible for a multi-disciplinary engineering team in the technical development of Secure Solutions and requires expertise in secure systems with a primary focus on anti-tamper, and knowledge in cyber security, cryptography, and/or software Assurance.

This is a high-growth technical area, and the candidate must be a self-starter that enjoys collaboration and pursuing innovative, practical solutions, and will provides technical guidance and mentoring for his/her team members, and is accountable to programs that their employees support, ensuring that the work products are of the highest quality and meet the program objectives.

US Citizenship REQUIRED as a US DoD ACTIVE Secret security clearance is REQUIRED on Day 1 of employment

Required Skills :

•    Typically requires 10+ years of progressive technical (hands-on) experience related to Systems/Software Engineering architecture, requirements, determination, development, and implementation

•    Extensive experience designing, implementing, testing, and fielding real-time embedded security-oriented solutions on DoD programs

•    Extensive knowledge of security standards, methods, and policies; risk and threat analysis; and technical safeguards

•    Extensive experience with design/development/implementation in at least one of the following areas: Anti-Tamper (HW, SW, Systems), Cyber, Crypto, Software Assurance, or Anti-Tamper strongly preferred

•    Experience leading engineering development teams and personnel

•    Ability to interact with customers to define requirements, solutions, trades, costs, implementation, system impacts, and effectiveness

•    Develop top-level system requirements, flow down requirements and implementation concepts to subsystems

•    Experience with direct interfaces with respect to customer representatives and external suppliers

•    Experience with COTS security technologies and trusted products

•    Experience managing (cost/schedule) systems engineering product teams within a program and earned-value management

•    Familiarity with sizing engineering efforts and bidding program pursuits

•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•    Minimum ACTIVE Secret security clearance, Top Secret Highly Preferred

•    U.S. Citizen as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems

•    Ability to access US only data

Desired Skills:

•    Experience performing functional management activities (staffing, development, performance, career planning, goals, compensation, communications flow)

•    Background in Multi-Discipline Engineering (SE, SW, HW) practices

•    Experience with certification of cryptographic, anti-tamper, and other security-related engineering products/systems

•    Experience with multi-level security solutions

•    High degree of technical writing experience developing domain focused white papers, trade studies, and technical/policy documents

•    Knowledge of methodologies and experience in reverse engineering

•    Knowledge of Program Protection Plan (PPP) required by DoDI 5000.02 and DoDI 5200.39, including in-depth understanding of balancing risk across the System Security Engineering discipline and domain areas

Required Education : Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
