Requisition Summary

Dynacraft is looking for an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op to work in McKinney, TX for the Spring 2025 semester. The position will report to the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to research, design, and implement manufacturing methods, tooling, equipment and processes in support of new business.

Division Information

Dynacraft, a PACCAR Company, is headquartered in McKinney, TX. Dynacraft is a diversified global manufacturer of PACCAR medium and heavy-duty truck parts sold under the Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF nameplates. For more than forty years, Dynacraft has provided the company’s truck manufacturing divisions and PACCAR Parts service parts division with high quality components, subassemblies and specialized services. Dynacraft’s manufacturing facilities are located in Louisville, KY, and McKinney, TX.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with New Business Development teams to thoroughly understand requirements of new products being considered for the McKinney facility.

  • Research manufacturing processes.

  • Develops allocation of space and design of tools to achieve efficient arrangement of workflow and materials.

  • Reviews engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommends changes, as necessary.

  • Facilitates effective communication to plant management on project status.

  • Supports connected plant industry 4.0 initiatives and related technologies.

  • Research vendors, learn product offerings, and recommend sourcing strategies.

  • Write RFQs, RFPs, and Design Build Agreements (DBAs).

  • Issue POs, monitor vendor progress regarding quality and timeliness of deliverables.

  • Receive and inspect equipment. Oversee installation and activation.

  • Perform quality and safety checks on new equipment following PACCAR standard procedures.

  • Develop work instructions and training programs for operators.

  • Train and oversee operators during launch of new production systems.

  • Use continuous improvement methods to improve new production lines until relevant KPIs are met.

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers and Maintenance Personnel to transfer production line support knowledge.

  • Document design and implementation of production line.

  • Perform feasibility and proof-of-concept tests by writing sample code, designing sample tools, drawing sample control systems, etc.

  • Draw production systems in AutoCAD and Creo

  • Perform Line Balancing, Time Studies, and Rack Face Layout studies.

Qualifications

  • Qualified applicants will be detailed oriented, well organized and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Applicants must be able to multi-task, prioritize, successfully handle pressure, and work/make decisions independently when required.

  • The successful candidate is a highly motivated self-starter comfortable with clarifying then executing high-level direction with minimal daily supervision.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.

  • Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools to assemble and repair machinery.

  • Excellent PC skills: including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • AutoCAD, ProEngineer, CATIA or CREO software experience is a plus.

  • Proficiency with one or more programming language such as C#, Visual Basic, Python, Java, JavaScript, PLC Programming, etc. highly desired.

Education

  • Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field.

  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
