Genesee & Wyoming Track Maintainer - railway in McKerrow, Ontario
Description
The track maintainer works as a crew member to maintain repair and replace railway lines and its components.
Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will perform the following functions:
Perform the duties involved with the maintenance repair activities surrounding the Maintenance of Way functions, carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's safety policies and applicable rules.
Perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and adjustments to equipment as needed.
Perform the day-to-day activities such as unloading and/or assisting in the distribution of track material (rail, ties, spikes, plates, etc.).
Correct deviations in track surface, alignment and gauge, according to norms.
Install and repair street crossings and railway crossings.
Establish and maintain drainage; install, repairs and cleans small culverts.
Perform flagging work to specific locations on the Railway.
Work with different tools (manual, hydraulic or other).
Perform any other related tasks.
General Requirements:
Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
Must possess experience in construction or mechanic or in maintenance of way. (asset)
Ability to adapt to changing situations: working hours, service calls, overtime, tasks to accomplish, outside of the work location, etc.
Must be prepared to work in adverse weather conditions.
Able to work alone or in a team.
Able to work under minimal supervision.
