As a Principal Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide technical leadership in high level analysis and design of JLG's global footprint and manufacturing layout. This is a crucial role in JLG's future of manufacturing strategy as we look to gain efficiencies within our product line production and manufacturing processes.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Perform a wide variety of investigative and analytical studies related to global footprint strategy. Ensure that manufacturing factories are optimally located to support customer base and correct products are being manufactured in the right location.

  • Lead and participate in long range enterprise capacity planning

  • Manage and coordinate resources to drive manufacturing projects that support the global manufacturing strategy

  • Lead and provide support for the justification and selection of major capital equipment

  • Identify and implement new manufacturing technologies and innovation that provide additional capability within the factories. Create business case to justify new manufacturing processes and implement on global scale.

  • Conduct research, development and deployment of digital manufacturing technology into global manufacturing facilities. Support digital manufacturing initiatives by leading proof of concept (POC) studies and scale them to production levels.

  • Collaborate with other manufacturing departments such as quality, materials, EHS, and facilities

  • Apply project management skills (schedule, cost, communications) and coordination of internal and external resources to execute projects in a timely and cost-effective manner

  • Drive maturity of the overall plant knowledge of technology, adoption of new technologies, and ensure factories in the regions have the best access to the latest technological thinking and possible solutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering

  • 5+ years related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to participate or lead a cross-functional team.

  • Project management experience, including the ability to manage a project by delivering scope, cost and schedule.

  • Capable of working in a collaborative and team focused environment; open to new ideas

  • Demonstrated understanding of fabrication processes – cutting, bending, machining, welding, coating, assembly

  • Able to evaluate potential innovative technology areas

  • Must be proficient with CAD software (AutoCAD) and simulation software

  • Strategic thinker

  • Time management and problem solving skills
