::: {bind="html: pageData().job.description"} Under general supervision ofthe Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Nurse Manager, and direct supervision ofRN 1, charge nurse, RN or LPN the certified nurse technician or nurse technician performs direct patient care for an assigned number ofpatients. At all times, patient assignments will be determined by adjustment ofdepartments patient census and current staffing levels for the overall patient care which are reviewed shift-to-shift. As determined by Nurse Manager the CNA/Tech will be assigned up to 40 hours per week and may rotate between day and night shift according to the needs ofthe unit and staff. The CNA/nurse tech is expected to function within the scope practice and approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization. The CNA/tech needs the ability to cope with frequent unpleasant sights/smells as well as deal with difficult patient/family. The CNA/Tech is responsible to assist the Charge nurse, RN or LPN with orientation, preceptorship for, Nurse Techs or certified nurse assistant, students or UnitSecretaries assigned to unit. Must be ableto work andrelate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, mid-level providers, administration, patients, and visitors. Will be responsible to collect selected patient information and perform patient care as directed by RN/LPN, document care given, assist with review and maintain patient chart per policy, and assist with accurate and timely entry ofpatient data, patient orders orcharges into computer system. CNA/Tech must demonstrate responsibility for the monitoring and reassessment ofpatient's vital signs, Accuchecks as directed by RN/LPN. Identify patients' needs/concerns to RN/LPN orprovider for patient safety and patient satisfaction. Maintains clinical competence to perform any job duty within the scope ofCNA/Tech competencies providing care for patient during procedures. Promotes unit and organizational philosophy and goals; involved in the development ofunit goals. Supports and assist* with staffing/scheduling policies to meet unit needs. Assists with establishment ofdepartmental policies and procedures that reflect the services provided by the telemetry department. Participates in organizational committees as assigned. Provides important information on trends related to patient outcomes to Nurse Manager, charge nurse orRN/LPN. Maintains current knowledge ofregulatory requirements: EMTALA, DNV and CMS. Demonstrates professionalism and reinforces professional behavior ofstaff members. Demonstrates knowledge and skill related to patient throughput and customer service / satisfaction. Pays close attention to the census with special emphasis on patient throughput. Addresses any patient concerns. Complete the yearly mandatory in-service (YMT) requirements is nonnegotiable and will be the responsibility ofthe employee to arrange, attend sessions and remain current on Healthstream assignments. Must float todesignated areas asassigned per RN 1,Manager orRN. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: The CNA/Tech isexpected tofunction within the CNA/Tech scope ofpractice and approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization. COVTD patient care requires the same duties as NONF-HR-50 1COVID patients- must take care ofall patient types. Hourly rounds-CNA/Tech do even hour rounds. Bathe total care patients, assist other patients with baths, all non-bed bound patients up in the chair at least once aday, and assist with activities ofdaily living (ADLs). Set up meals, offer wash cloth to wash face and hands, empty bedside commodes and urinals during rounds or after assistance, pass water three times /shift, obtain glucose checks (Accu-Check), get all non-bed bound patients up in a chair atleast one time a day, ambulate patients atleast once per day, post -op(patients after surgery) should ambulate with assistance three times a day, turn all bed bound patients every two hours, answer call lights -and take care ofpatients requests or needs, check vital signs protocol or as direct by LPN/RN, change patient's linens, remove IV fluids from IV pumps, check room for any patient belongings, pass meal trays- assist and set up food, feed patients that need assistance, Keep unit clean and orderly, hallways clear, clean equipment, move equipment to proper location, items in hallway on opposite side ofwall from patients room. Assist RN/ LPN in collection of data forassessment information to formulate plan of care. Demonstrates ability to prioritize patient care depending on needs/problems identified during patient assessment directed by LPN /RN Communicates patient needs to other disciplines and promotes discharge planning. Assisting in monitoring and rechecking patients: presenting clinical, chronic, urgent oremergent situation. Document care given: Bathes, assistance needed, refusal -reporting refusal to charge nurse and why. Document Input and outputs: document amount patient eats, drinks and documents output (bowel movements, urinates), NPO stasis. Documents every two hours purposeful rounding- 3Ps CPottv-Do you have any bathroomneeds, Position-are you comfortable, Periphery/possession (call button-in reach, bedside table inreach with water, ice, phone, allequipment isplugged in) may I assist you with anything. Instructs patients to call for assistance. Demonstrate and deliver patient centered care-introduce yourself, discuss what you are going to do, write your name on the communication board.
