Universal Health Services Perioperative Care Tech in MCALLEN, Texas

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Consistently coordinates work to assists to promote efficiency in the Surgery department by assisting with transport of patients in the admission, transfer, and discharge procedure. Assists in the preparation of beds for receiving admissions, returning surgical patients, transfers or emergencies. Assures confidentiality of all patient information. Responds to patient and visitor questions and needs immediately. Adheres to patient safety and general safety guidelines. Demonstrates understanding of infection control: hand washing, use of gloves and personal protective equipment. Use of hand washing gel/foams and decontamination of equipment prior to and after use. Knowledge of isolation protocols and PPE required. Assists with positioning and transfer of patients in the OR under direction of RN and/or MD.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Preferred knowledge of Surgery Procedures

  2. Minimum of 6 months of recent general medical experience.

  3. Effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

  4. Basic knowledge of good body mechanics.

  5. Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of team members

  6. BLS required

  7. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

  1. High School diploma, GED or Higher Education required.
