Loyola University Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Access Coordinator to serve as the first point of contact for patients, physicians, vendors, and the public. This role is essential in delivering high-quality customer service by answering phones, providing appointment services, and managing various communications. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills and a commitment to enhancing patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer phones to manage paging, messaging, appointment scheduling, and general inquiries.

  • Serve as the initial contact for new patients, referring physicians, and the public seeking information about physicians, staff, programs, and services.

  • Screen and transfer escalated appointment-related requests to patient access schedulers, ensuring a smooth and professional handoff.

  • Provide directory information, assist with inquiries related to staff, clinic services, office hours, and general information.

  • Effectively manage and relay messages to physicians, patients, and family members, ensuring timely and accurate communication.

  • Screen physician calls and determine whether they should be transferred to the office, nurse, or paged.

  • Initiate medical teams for emergency code calls, logging all relevant details, and assist security during disaster or emergency procedures.

  • Support and execute the department’s disaster plan in case of equipment or network failure.

Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

  • Ability to problem-solve by critically evaluating information and implementing effective solutions.

  • A proactive approach to quality improvement and operational efficiency.

  • Experience in a healthcare or similar customer service role is preferred.

Minimum Education:

Required: High School Diploma

Minimum Experience:

Required: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
