Barnes Group Inc Operations Manager - Distribution in Maumee, Ohio

Description An exciting opportunity exists at Barnes for an Operations Manager in its Force and Motion Control SBU, Maumee, OH. The ideal candidate will lead the operations team to meet performance goals by focusing on customer service and support, operational flexibility, continuous improvement, and driving a culture of accountability, while preparing the operations for smart factory capabilities and excellent customer service. This includes overseeing the customer service department, receiving, picking and packing, inventory control, shipping, and assembly warehouse personnel. Core Responsibilities: Lead, manage, and direct a team comprised of managers, supervisors, team leads, and warehouse associates. Develop, manage and lead personnel with a results driven framework focused on safety, quality, cross training, and continuous improvement to meet customer demand and division goals. Responsible for facilities performance and compliance to health, safety, and environmental regulation in accordance with Barnes Drive warehouse development and efficiency through new technology, process optimization and investments in accordance with company strategy and in alignment with leadership. Models and drives Operational Excellence in alignment with Barnes transformational efforts and strategic themes Support the customer service area including data entry, customer support, telephone support as required Identify and implement standard work, inclusive of best practices, to improve VOC, time to fill, on time delivery, and other KPIs and needed. Provides leadership and employee development through the effective selection of talent, performance management, training/development, coaching/mentoring, and motivation of employees in alignment with business goals and objectives. Collaborates with cross functional teams, inclusive of purchasing and accounting, to ensure adherence to inventory controls and assists in inventory management. Implements KPIs to drive accountability across all departments within operations. Responsible for warehouse machinery and equipment to sustain a good standard and machine health through preventive maintenance, TPM-program, calibration- and audit programs. Qualifications: 5 or more years of progressive warehouse, distribution and/or assembly experience, required 2 or more years of experience leading cross functional teams 3 or more years of direct supervisory and management experience required. Knowledge and experience working in a quality system (such as IATF 16949) environment. Extensive knowledge and experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing. Experience with 6S, Standard Work and Built In Quality. Sufficient knowledge of ERP systems to effectively manage the business Views problems from a total business perspective, considering economic opportunity, required investment, risks and anticipated paybacks. Seeks out data from several sources to make informed decisions. Prior knowledge and/or experience with OSHA rules preferred.
