Temporary Internship Opportunity Position is available until June 30th, 2025, with the possibility of an extension. State Library of Massachusetts The State Library of Massachusetts is looking for amotivated, enthusiastic,and detail-oriented library intern toassistthe Government Documents Librarian with the acquisition and maintenance of the Library’s Massachusetts state documents, Massachusetts local documents and federal documents collections. This intern willhelpcollecting,digitizingdocumentsand uploading tothedigital repository. They willassisttheReference Librarians at the Information deskandparticipatein tours and orientations.This intern will gain knowledge about Massachusetts State government, statedocuments,legal and legislative resources,along with collection development and maintenance.TheState Library wasestablishedin 1826 to collect, deposit, and house the Commonwealth's collections of maps, statute books, and government documents in a single central location. Since that time, the State Library has grown into a multifaceted and reliable resource for legislators, executive personnel, state employees, historians, genealogists, and users from all over the world. Duties: * Under thesupervisionof Librarians,assistswithmaintaininga list of Massachusetts state agency contacts and corresponds with agencies to check on the status of paper and electronic documents. * HelpslocateMassachusetts electronic documents existing on agency websites, news media, social media, etc. * Helpsmonitortheelectronic documents email box for documents. * Uploads government documents intoourDSpacedigital depository. * Assistsat the information desk First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. Qualifications: * Aninterest inMassachusettsgovernment documentsandhistory * Familiarity withdigital repository software and content management systems a plus * Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Creative Suite, and the ability to learn other software applications independently * Experience with scanning equipment and tools a plus * Interest in Massachusettslegal and legislative resources a plus * Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form * Ability to work independently and juggle multiple priorities * * * * * An Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer.
