Honeywell Lead Regulatory Engineer in Mason, Ohio

We have a new opportunity for a Lead Regulatory and Compliance Engineer, reporting to our Sr. Regulatory and Compliance Manager, located in our Mason, OH facility.

The position will be responsible for the review and approval of the Intelligrated product and system safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance standards associated with as-delivered Honeywell material handling system solutions, including the equipment as designed, manufactured, procured, and applied in these systems. This individual will partner with the Product Engineering, Project Engineering, and Project Management in safe equipment design, deployment, and review, to ensure that regulatory and safety standards and appropriate end-user protections are included from design onward, and that product liability and the potential for injury or failures is minimized. This individual will assist Honeywell Project Teams in the safe deployment and start-up of new operations/customer equipment at customer locations in partnership with engineering, facilities, safety, and operations teams. The Lead Regulatory Compliance Engineer is the subject matter expert in Conveyance Product Regulations, Product Stewardship, US regional and local regulatory codes, and their applications to machine safeguarding, material handling equipment, safety, ergonomic standards, and general regulatory compliance.

As the Lead Regulatory Compliance Engineer, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead Intelligrated US Regulatory and Compliance efforts, as well as Product Stewardship, and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) product safeguarding design.

  • Provide internal subject matter expertise on MHE and Robotic Compliance Standards (ASME B20.1, ANSI RIA R15.06, ANSI RIA R15.08, ANSI B11.19, CSA Z432, CSA Z434, etc.)

  • Identify and verify all regulatory and compliance requirements for Legacy & NPI/NPE developments for the Intelligrated product portfolio.

  • Conduct and advise project risk assessments during project planning and audits of equipment as installed at customer project sites, to ensure regulatory requirements are met before subsequent customer project turnover(s).

  • Develop standard technical regulatory knowledge and processes to train engineers and technical staff to ensure our customer projects meet all MHE regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in safety standards committees such as B20.1, CEMA or R15.08, representing HON Intelligrated and work with the Legal department to minimize product liability from design to installation.

  • Review customer specific safety concerns or requirements in relationship to industry standards, HON standards, and their impact to MHE application and design, to develop mitigations as needed.

  • Travel up to 25%

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • 10 years of experience in Safety Engineering, standard compliance, or risk control

  • Working knowledge of Conveyance Product Standards such as ASME B20.1, ANSI RIA R15.06, ANSI RIA R15.08, ANSI B11.19, CSA Z432, CSA Z434, etc

  • Experience implementing standards such as above, involvement with Product Stewardship (EPR), and regional / local safety and compliance regulations.

WE VALUE

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, electrical, mechanical engineering or a related field

  • Comprehension and practical application of risk assessments

  • Experience certifying integrated machinery systems to Conveyance Product Standards.

  • Experience certifying new products, working with global regulatory agencies, test labs, etc.

  • Experience reviewing equipment and systems, including conveyance and machinery for proper guarding, interlocks, and safety features.

  • Distribution Center or Manufacturing Safety experience within the material handling solution industry

  • Experience in a fast paced, changing/growing organization.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with site leaders.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
