Newell Brands Safety Coordinator in Maryville, Tennessee

The Safety Coordinator will be part of the Newell Safety Team helping to coordinate safety activities and training in the Maryville facility to ensure compliance and adoption of SEAL processes and procedures, safety laws and regulations. This position will conduct various safety related audits throughout the facility as well as assist incident investigations and help lead our safety programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.

• Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.

• Perform required safety audits to inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.

• Partner with Sr. Manager, EHS to lead incident reviews and to conduct incident investigations.

• Report or review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing to ensure these are being done and updated in SMS.

• In the absence of the Sr Manager, EHS, will review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.

• Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment. This could include monthly refresher training, contractor or visitor training.

• Partner with Human Resources to provide technical advice and guidance to comply with reasonable accommodation requests due to injury or medical condition.

• Maintain liaisons with outside organizations such as fire departments, and rescue teams, so that emergency responses can be facilitated.

• Assist with compiling, analyzing, and interpreting statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.

• Together with the Sr Manager, EHS, will lead the efforts of the Safety Committee and Ergonomics Committee.

• Represent the EHS efforts of the facility in the absence of the Sr Manager, EHS.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years Safety experience in a manufacturing environment

• Knowledge of OSHA and other safety Regulations

• BS in Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology, Human Resources or related degree preferred

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Must complete all OSHA required training
