Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The G.I. Endoscopy Technician, Advanced allows individuals the opportunity for on the job education and training to broaden their knowledge of gastroenterology. This individual works under supervision, to assist with patient care in the Endoscopy procedure room by performance of technical and other delegated duties. The individual will assist with therapeutic procedures, complete reprocessing of procedural instruments, supplies maintenance and room set up and tear down and is actively involved with training peers. Technical duties include assistance with complex Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and interventional endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) procedures. The G.I. Endoscopy Technician, Advanced will complete educational training and exams and will be assigned a designated mentor(s) to develop skills necessary to perform the G.I. Endoscopy Technician (Advanced) essential functions within the scope of the role. This individual performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health Systems’ (MCHS) mission, policies and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Six months experience in Advanced GI

Role obtained on the job or prior to hire. Demonstrate proficiency with gastroenterology

terminology. Demonstrated proficiency with completion of non-complex therapeutic

procedures, advanced GI procedures and reprocessing procedures related to gastroenterology

within applicable departments.

Preferred/Optional: Certificate or diploma in a medical related field or gastroenterology

experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.

4, 10-hour shifts also an option. Weekend and holiday call rotation after orientation period.
