**Wiley University is now hiring Security Officers.

Security Officers support the institution in maintaining a safe and secure environment in which to live learn, and work.

**TITLE: Security Recruit (unarmed)

UNIT: University Police

DIVISION: Office of the President

QUALIFICATIONS: **

  • High school diploma required; associates degree preferred, but not required.
  • Valid driver's license or can be obtained.
  • Able to perform tasks including standing, sitting and walking for long periods of time.

**REPORTING AUTHORITY: Chief of Police

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None

PRIMARY GOAL: To provide a safe and secure physical environment for the campus community and protect its properties and assets from hazards and the opportunity for crime.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Serves at the terms of the President.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs a variety of campus security duties involving the patrolling of campus premises to detect crimes or violations of University regulations; patrol parking lots, University buildings and property to ensure their security. Only University vehicles are used for patrolling. 2. Checks incoming and outgoing traffic on campus. 3. Regulates pedestrian and vehicular traffic; checks all automobiles on University property for proper parking and parking permits. 4. Provides assistance in emergency situations. 5. Provides information about University to students, staff, and the general public. 6. Provides security for University and other events. 7. Maintains good communication with the chain of command. 8. Receives and communicates calls regarding emergency maintenance or service requests. 9. Locks, unlocks and secures buildings and gates on campus property. 10. Inspects University property and report unsafe conditions. 11. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein. 12. Maintains a working understanding of the Department's and University policies/procedures. 13. Maintain a Daily Activity Report reflecting campus activity in a well written, accurate and timely fashion. 14. Maintains a professional relationship with students, faculty and staff to promote a secure Campus Community. 15. Provides assistance and log information for visitors, and vendors. 16. Is responsible for cleanliness of the security vehicle, booth and patrol room. 17. Security Recruits do not possess a valid guard card from Texas DPS. 18. Security Recruits are not eligible for promotion.
