WOOD & HUSTON BANK Audit and Compliance Specialist in Marshall, Missouri

JOB SUMMARY The Audit and Compliance Specialist will work directly with the Audit, Risk and Compliance Officer to develop an understanding of and help support the banks audit and compliance programs. This position will not generally require contact with the external customer but will involve working closely with other employees.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Test systems of internal control appropriately based on risk assessment (i.e., walkthrough vs. test of control) specifically as it relates to the banking industry
  • Performing compliance audits and compliance monitoring
  • Understanding and developing bank procedures in the scope of the audit and compliance programs
  • Providing a resource to bank employees with audit and compliance questions
  • Attending audit and compliance seminars and schools as needed, pursuing certification as directed
  • Develop recommendations for improving internal controls, operating efficiency, and bank records and recordkeeping adequacy.
  • Report audit and compliance findings and recommendations to appropriate management based on the results of regularly scheduled audits, non-scheduled audits, and at any time when issues need to be addressed by management
  • Conduct follow-up reviews of financial, operational, or regulatory compliance deficiencies noted during audits
  • Conduct investigations of irregularities discovered by or brought to the departments attention

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Ability to self-train and work independently
  • Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions to complex control, financial technical, compliance, or regulatory issues
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to problem solve and manage projects independently
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other employees, portraying an excellent level of internal customer service
  • Ability and desire to read and understand complex and often-times tedious regulatory requirements
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with Excel and Word documents
  • Basic computer skills
  • At least 90 days in your current position is required
