Provide a healthy, safe, fun and developmentally appropriate program and environment where children have the opportunity to develop social-emotional, language, intellectual, and physical skills. Essential Duties: - Ensure a safe and healthy environment at all times by monitoring child areas for hazards or sanitation problems and correcting problems immediately or removing children from hazard until it can be corrected. - Ensure sight and sound adult staff supervision for all children at all times. - Provide a stimulating, engaging, cognitively challenging and developmentally appropriate environment that encourage exploration and experimentation for children of verily ability levels. - Follow a daily schedule that incorporates the best early childhood practices with a balance of teacher and/or child(ren) initiated activities. - Plan and execute appropriate learning experiences indoors and outside in accordance with CPC s curriculum. - Maintain a portfolio of work for each child that documents growth. - Maintain accurate and timely records as required by classroom. - Maintain confidentiality of center policies, procedures, documents, etc., and any currently enrolled, inquiring or previously enrolled family. - Establish and maintain a collaborative and professional working environment with all other staff who enter and/or work within your classroom. - Maintain an open professional working relationship with the Assistant Director and Director to ensure success within CPC. - Be a Team Player. Be willing, hardworking, driven and respectful towards others. - Ensure compliance with the Department of Human Services, Minnesota Rule 3 at all times. Other Duties and Tasks: - Assist in maintaining center appearance in the interior and exterior that adhere to CPC s and MN Rule 3 s standards and requirements. - Maintain common supply areas in a neat orderly fashion, notifying the director of any materials that need to be ordered and reordered. - Strong written and verbal communication skills that allow you to maintain effective communication with the assistant director and director, staff, families, children, and community groups. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Must be able to pass a background study. - Must be able to become CPR and First Aid certified within 90 days of hire. - Must be able to satisfactorily complete all required training's with a minimum passing score. - All training provided outside of CPC will follow the training institutions grading. Physical Requirements: - Be able to lift thirty pounds. - Be able to bend, stoop, or kneel to achieve children s eye-level. - Be able to sit on the floor and/or child-sized chairs if appropriate. - Be able to spend at least one hour at a time outdoors throughout the year. - Be able to write notes, newsletter articles and have communication using standard English.
