The Mission Systems Hardware Engineering Department is seeking a motivated and driven Engineering Intern to join our team in Marlborough, MA.

The department supports customers for Land, Sea, and Airborne Programs for our US military and various international customers, keeping the world safe from foreign threats. As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will be a member of a multi-disciplinary Integrated Program Team (IPT) consisting of System, Hardware and Software Engineers creating complex digital electronic modules and/or circuit card assemblies (CCAs) that utilize processors, memories, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), System on Chip (SOC), and Complex Programmable Logic Devices (CPLDs). Development activities may also include test and troubleshooting hardware.

What You Will Do:

The Electrical Engineer intern will be an integral part of the Digital Engineering team and will become familiar with the following areas :

  • Working with the CCA requirements of High speed digital circuit design

  • Generating schematics using the Siemens Xpedition Design Tools suite

  • Verifying functionality in laboratory environment

  • Troubleshooting and analyzing test results

  • Generating documentation

  • Performing various analyses and simulations

What You Will Learn:

  • Digital Design process

  • Schematic capture

  • Laboratory testing and troubleshooting of CCAs

  • Design verification and resolution of Hardware performance issues

    Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

    Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Familiar with PCB design tasks and tools (schematic capture, layout)

  • Familiar with communication interfaces and bus standards (I2C, PCIe, UART, or GbE)

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Products

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-motivated and demonstrated history of working well in a team environment

    Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with Siemens/Mentor Xpedition Design Tool Suite

  • Technical experience through prior internships

  • Prior leadership experience

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
