Job Description Summary

The Technical Leader for the Design Process and Requirements Management team will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, development, and resource management of a team of engineers supporting each design team within GEH Nuclear in support of the BWRX-300 project. You will be responsible for providing engineering design leadership within a team environment, working with other disciplines, project/product stakeholders, partner organizations and suppliers to advance plant conceptual and detailed design to successfully deliver new plants project(s).

In this role, you will manage complex issues within the functional area of expertise, be involved in long-term and short-term planning and contribute to the overall engineering strategy. This position will provide the technical coordination for establishing and following the BWRX-300 Design Process, Requirements Management process execution, and implementation of Codes & Standards and Regulations of multiple jurisdictions, and successful execution of special topics/projects related to BWRX-300. Experience in the nuclear field and working with a requirements management database like IBM Doors Next Generation is preferred.

Job Description

As the Technical Leader - Design Process & Requirements Management you will:

· Have ownership and accountability to assure the successful execution of the BWRX-300 Design Process, Requirements Management Program, Codes & Standards and Regulations flow down through the BWRX-300 design, special projects, etc.

· Coordinate and oversee initial requirement setting and conceptual engineering through final design and construction and plant turnover to the customer. Manage the interfaces with partners and suppliers in support of the GEH Nuclear portfolio.

· Lead the cross-functional BWRX-300 Engineering organization in setup, implementation, and maintenance of the Verification and Validation process to include the introduction and use of requirements management software for organizing and optimizing data flow throughout the design

· Ensure necessary design intent/requirements are captured and documented.

· Provide technical and managerial leadership for a diverse team being accountable for on-time delivery of design products within budget.

· Inspire, hire, coach and ensure the development of the team’s technical and leadership talent/depth

· Establish and maintain strong working relationship with other internal engineering team managers, business leaders, project managers and stakeholders.

· Interface with external partners, customers, and other applicable country specific regulatory agencies, as required on technical issues.

· Provide leadership supporting performance and program management of assigned work and ensure on-time fulfillment of engineering commitments in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, industry standards and regulatory agency guidelines.

· Plan, organize and manage the delivery of technical activities/tasks in support of engineering deliverables.

· Provide guidance and manage external resources to ensure the quality of deliverables, enable flexibility and improved cost positions.

· Work collaboratively across the engineering matrix and with business leaders in Product Development, Project Delivery, Sourcing and Quality to ensure close coordination of technical inputs/outputs, project/product requirements, workforce planning/scheduling and risk management.

· Have ownership to streamline, integrate and develop team technical and management processes to better support business needs across the organization through Lean and/or Six Sigma methodology.

· Act as a technical liaison with customers, partner organizations and suppliers as necessary and in close partnership/coordination with Product Development and Project Delivery leaders.

· Partner with business teams and presents product/program strategies, technical roadmaps, risks and recommendations to senior leads across GEH.

Required Qualifications:

· B.S. Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar)

Minimum 8 years of experience in a technology or engineering leadership role

Desired Characteristics:

· Demonstrated people management, communication, and motivation skills

· Master’s degree or PhD in an engineering, management, or technical discipline

· Experience as a project or team leader or manager.

· Experience and knowledge of integrated design processes pertaining to requirements management

· Experience in nuclear or engineering training

· Experience managing highly technical and diverse Engineering teams and functions and meeting deadlines

· Strong Leadership skills

· Experience in establishing global Configuration Management (CM) capabilities for Collaborative Lifecycle Management for NPP Requirements Management (RM) and change control application. Plant experience in multiple capacities including on-shift, outage prep, work control, and/or training.

· Commercial nuclear engineering experience in multiple capacities including Design, Licensing, PRA, and/or Systems -OR- similar experience in highly regulated industries.

· Requirements Management experience utilizing DOORs/ELM or similar tool.

· Knowledge of working within a regulated environment (nuclear)

· Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000)

· Experience in licensing

· Strong organizational skills

· Strong problem-solving abilities

· Prior experience in project delivery and working within a matrix environment

· Strong customer mindset

· Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure

· Excellent oral and written communications skills

· Strong interpersonal skills
